Fuel Pressure

My fuel pressure jumped to over 60psi today. Can a regulator going bad cause that big of a jump? Also is anyone running the Russell fuel lines that American muscle sells?

Im not 100% sure but since it's supposed to regulate the pressure, I'd assume its possible that you could get a pressure rise. I never monitored a factory style regulator before and never had an aftermarket one fail. A pinched/crushed return line could also raise the pressure. If you start the car and pull the reference line and there's fuel in that line, it's time for a replacement.

When you say the "reference line" do you mean the vacuum line to the regulator? Thanks for your help Rick93coupe.

I ran the Russel lines, never had an issue with them.

Yep, the line from the intake manifold to the regulator. When a regulator diaphragm fails, fuel gets drawn up the hose because there's a vacuum on it. You're welcome.

well, from one problem to the next. I pulled the upper intake and replaced the fuel pressure regulator. I also replaced some warn vacuum hoses and PCV valve. I have everything back together and it runs like crap. check the hoses to make sure everything is correct. I have my fuel pressure set at 43psi.
The car feels like it has a miss to it. Anyone ever had this happen or ideas on what could it be?

Check the plugs? May have fouled one out. Did the regulator fix your fuel pressure issue?

Sounds like a vacuum leak somewhere. Double check the vacuum lines.

Fuel regulator fixed the fuel pressure issue. I did a smoke leak test on the car today. The only place that had a leak was the throttle body. It was leaking out the throttle shaft on the bottom. Is this normal? No leak anywhere else. New plugs tomorrow.

A small amount is probably normal. It would take something larger than that to make it miss bad.

Id try dropping the fuel pressure down around 39-40 also. Depending on your combination I guess.

Changed the plugs last night. No change. I'm going to check the TPS sensor tonight. If this doesn't work I'm not sure what to do next. Anybody have any ideas?

UPDATE. It was my throttle body. Big thanks to Mike Bell for the MAC 70mm throttle body and advice. Running better than ever now.
