Found a great deal on a 2017 Ecoboost Premium over the weekend. I have not had a mustang that was derivable for a few years so this is going to be fun. I have the stage 1 package for the Cobb tuner/air filter coming Friday. This video was the deciding factor in choosing Cobb over the other tuners. It shows the trans brake, 2 step, and line lock control. They seem to have the biggest following in the EB community.

I was hoping to hit Edgewater friday for a baseline, but not sure mother nature is going to cooperate.

Pretty certain you are locked into a 17 on the back unless you do a brake swap out to a 13/14 rear that is smaller.........if that can be done. Tommy 2Tone can give the first hand skinny on this if he pops on.

The tuner is supposed to be here tomorrow. Ill get a good bottle of Bourbon and have to toast to the death of my warranty.
It also looks like the factory intercooler is a huge bottle neck and power robber due to heat soak and very high intake air temps. That will need to be the next upgrade.

thanks for the comments everyone. It feels good to have my butt back in a mustang seat again.
I did a rough measurement on the rear brakes last night. Looks like about 7.75" from center to outside of the caliper. Definitely going to have to go with 17" or bigger for drag wheels. I have a set of 95 tri-bars laying around. I might put some drag radials on them while I wait for a deal to show up on something nicer.

I remember buying my 03 Gt 14 years ago and it's amazing that an eco-boost and V6 Mustang could out run it now. So many don't realize that 300 hp use to be such a huge number of horsepower not so long ago. I'll probably be heading down to the track soon with my old 2.3 Turbo Volvo. Wouldn't mind seeing this car make a pass.

The regal is nice car also. I just like extra room you get in a fusion vs a Regal. I wouldn't mind a new Fusion Sport. 2.7 Turbo and tune wouldn't make it pretty quick sleeper.

The seats in the Regal were like sitting on leather covered plywood. Ride and road noise were about the same in both, but the Fusion felt like a midsize car with some plushness and comfort while the Regal simply looked the part. The Fusion we found had everything a Titanium has except the upgraded leather vice standard leather, remote start, and a rear spoiler. plus it had remote entry pad/GPS/climate control/heated seats/paddle shift for the eurotrash novice, etc. The only thing it lacked that the Regal has was a passenger side seat that would raise and lower.

Yes lets do that. I need to get an intercooler very soon. The heat soak on the factory one is terrible.
I find it very strange to be talking about a 4cyl motor and large torque numbers at the same time. This thing has great mid range and it is just strange.

FINALLY getting around to messing with this car. I got pretty distracted with flipping Copart cars. Went to the track a couple weeks ago. Not a great outing. Made 4 passes all with mistakes by me. This thing has too many buttons and switches to play with. First pass did not realize that with track mode (shifter in sport) it requires you to shift with the paddles. Hit the rev limiter in 1st and aborted. Second pass forgot to turn off traction control. (went 13.6). Third pass was way too much boost using the transbrake to launch on street tires. Just blew the tires off. Fourth pass I gripped the wheel tighter on launch and bumped the paddle shifter right into second gear. (Went 13.22@105) Then it rained and I loaded it up.
This was all done with the Cobb accessport on stage 1 tune. Only other mods are a Levels intercooler, drop in filter. Running 93 gas.
Now..... I have signed up with Tune+ for lifetime tuning as well as the transmission tuning. I have bought a cat-less downpipe, custom wastegate actuator, and ET street R tires. I also got one of the ethanol test kits so once we get the 93 octane tune finalized we can go E30 and let it rip.

Downpipe and wastegate actuator is on. Loaded the initial tune from Adam at Tune+. This thing is waaay faster now. Need to get the catch can on tonight and start datalogging so we can get the 93 tune finalized. Then on to the E30 tuning. Adam advised me not to race it until the tune is finished. The transmission tune is also really good. Totally different car with just a few parts.

Wow...not a good question to ask right now. Im still on E30 in the logging/tuning stage. This thing makes 25psi almost instantly. Can't keep my foot out of the boost. Adam Brunson does have me set up with three map slots of tunes. I can use my cruise control buttons to switch between them. I put it in the lowest power setting when I was on the 93 octane tune and saw 35mpg on the highway. That was a very unsatisfying two minutes.

With the low mileage mine racks up lately, I'm thinking about switching to E85 just so I can burn through a full tank of gas in less than a year! I hate fucking with fuel pumps and tanks though. Been putting 5 gallons in at a time lately just to try to keep fresh gas in it.

I sent the logs of my runs to my tuner. He sent back a new tune. Apparently something during the burnout was pissing off the knock sensor. He told me it was pulling 4 degrees of timing during the run. He changed something and said it should be better now. He also told me I better get a one piece driveshaft before I rip the two piece one out of the body.

She went 11's finally. 11.95 at 115. I really need to find some HOOK! I run the 275 Mickey ET street R drag radials and can not launch at anything over 2k on the 2 step without spinning. I feel like there is a ton more ET in this thing if I could leave 3500 off the transbrake & 2 step. I am pretty happy anyway since it just has a few bolt-ons and a hot tune. The motor and turbo are still factory stock.

Yes, I think so. I started a couple conversations on the "lets break some ecoboost" facebook groups. The recommended the Hoosier 28x10-17 ones. My current tires are a bit shorter than that so I am wondering how that will affect it.
My plan is to get the steeda stop the hop kit (or something similiar) . Looks like bmr makes the best drag springs for S550's. I don't have a good plan on what shocks to run yet. Seems like Viking is popular but they are $$$$.
Ill be watching to get as much as I can used. I'm currently right at $2000 in mods/tuning to get it into the 11's. All this new technology stuff just blows me away.

Finally getting this thing back together soon. Last spring I ended up cracking the block and found a couple bent rods during teardown.
I recently picked up a 2.0 block for the Focus ST as it is way stronger. I am using the 2.3 crank with Malhe pistons and Wiesco boostline rods. I also just purchased the Comp 58/58 bigger turbo for it. The motor still needs to be assembled and I need to figure out what fuel pump and injectors I am going to run. These darn DI fuel pumps that run off the cam are stupid expensive.
Anyway it should be in the 600-650 RWHP range on E85 once I get it all lined out.

Either way........DAAAAGGGGGG! I was at a custom engine shop in New Albany, Indiana about 12 years ago named ERL. They do marine and automotive both. At that time they were making a 4 cylinder that made over 600 FWHP N/A they stated. Don't recall if it was on race fuel or E85. Said at that time the most of those went into Sions being raced. They also did something for Honda as I recall. They made their own cams, cranks, and did tons of custom work. It was a neat place. Their main staple was marine. Hard to believe the HP that can be made with 4 holes in the block these days.
