So kinda at a cross roads on what to do and need some opinions.

1. FI on my 2006 Mustang GT - either a turbo kit or the Paxton Brenspeed Throwback Kit supercharger
2. Purchase a 1991 LX 5.0 Hatchback auto (AOD) with 196K on it.

If I get the Fox , will probably retire the 2006 from racing and build the Fox. Granted the 06 will be maxed at 11.5 area on the turbo since it is stock motor and going past that will require forging it out plus a cage / rollbar.

The shock towers on the Fox are in great shape. Car hasn't seen winter driving . Single owner for the past 17 years.

What say you Stangbangerz??

Sell the 06 and buy a 2015 up.

Not looking for a car payment at this point and I don't like the 2015 and up body style.

Go with a fox. Easy to find aftermarket parts an can hold alot of power if the chassis an supporting mods is there!

s197 3V will handle more power than people think and operate at a higher RPM. 507RWHP was the number on my 2005 GT @ 8.5 psi, cams, LT's and on 93 octane with a nice custom tune from Adam @ S&M Motorsports. It will still be street friendly because of the VCT technology. You have knock sensor technology not offered on a 302 push rod engine in addition. Want more power go E85 down the road and add a forged rotating assembly for piece of mind.

No reason to go backwards on your current technology unless you are seeking a Coyote swap setup. Plus you already have the tuning package for your car. It's a win/win sticking with the 3V and going FI. The only downside is that the PCM is not available. But then again its not available new for a Fox push rod engine either. You can easily get into the mid/low 11's with a 9psi 2.3TVS package from D.O.B. up in Michigan. That guy has a 3V package that is very reasonable and works well with the 3V setups.

Do what you want not what other people think you should do.

I plan on it. Just looking to see opinions in case someone here has gone one way and looking back wished they had gone the other. My goal is to have an 11.5 or better car this year and then a sub 10.5 car next year.

After supercharging a 3v. I'd never do it again. A bolt on coyote is faster than a supercharged 3v. Either way you're going to be spending money. I'd buy a boosted coyote or build the fox.

I would get a sn95 4v. Plenty of power. A little suspension, gears and tires you are mid 12s. Any power adder and you are at the 11.5 goal. Parts are cheap because it shares the chassis with the fox. I guess i am just telling you to build a replica of my car. Haha. Those are the reasons i did it. So passing it on. Pretty sure any way you slice that pie it takes about the same $ to get to mid 10s. You are going to have to build a forged engine and spin it up for NA power or FI lower rpm power. Pick a goal. Stick to it. 2v or 3v or 4v or coyote or sbf. All of those can get you there if you stick to it. Easiest way though is in a light car. S197 are not light. So it takes a little more power for the same ET. My $0.02. And not many people are doing my way. So maybe its wrong but i am having fun. If you look at our lists it seems the foxes with a small block stroker are the way to go.

If you are planning on just racing it, go Fox w/ a SBF. That's the way I went, I like Windsors though.
If you are looking to street drive it with an occasional drag race, stick with what you have.
Or maybe not, just an opinion.

Well as of right now not doing either. Kids car needs work on it and the water heater decided to go out. Still might change injectors and go E85 to pick up some more power since that will probably in the budget after taking care of the above.

Guess I will an NA warrior still for a while. :(

That sucks! Good luck! The E85 should pick you up some. Not sure it will help as much being N/A but Im sure it will still help. And if you decided to go supercharged later on, it will be ready.

NO kids and small home with tiny mortgage = why I have what I have car wise. I respect your priorities to your family.

Some day we may end up relying on the kids to take care of us! Or to put us in a nursing home and take all of our stuff!! I sure hope its the first one!
