Well, I was faced with a big decision this past summer. I was approached by a headhunter for a position with a large corporation. I had been approached twice before for the same company and both times they got my hopes up and then never heard another word from them. So when they called this time, I was a bit skeptical, but after talking with my wife, I decided it was worth a shot. I went through the process and this time I got an offer which I accepted.
First off, before I go any further, I am not closing my shop, so the haters can settle down. It has gone back to being a part time gig, like it was when I started it, and it was never supposed to be a full time deal anyway.
So, back to the job. The company that was after me is FCA, aka, Chrysler corp. Yep, that's right, the big one in Michigan, Auburn Hills to be exact. I am working out of a regional training center in West Chester, which is one of about 30 nationwide. I travel some, had to travel a bunch in the beginning, but I am always home on weekends which is nice. I also get a different car to drive every 3 weeks or so, which makes it very nice. I haven't bought gas for any of my cars in 5 months. lol. I am a technical trainer, I train technicians about our vehicles and how to service them. My specialty is the electrical and electronics on our vehicles along with the chassis and suspension systems. This week I am teaching high voltage safety, which we use 400V on our PHEV and BEV's. I'm currently driving a Fiat 500X, which is a decent car to run around in.
Why did I decide to do this? Well, we want a house. I want a large shop behind the house and move all my stuff into that so I can have one set of bills to pay instead of a pair of everything.
I waited a while to tell everyone because I wanted to make sure it was going to stick. I am really liking it, and I don't think that will change. We also have a hellcat engine on the stand we use in our engines classes. I'll be moving into that realm after I get all the electrical courses under my belt.
Anyway, just wanted to share some good news with you, as I rarely get to see y'all through the winter time.
