well after some hard bargaining on the trade value, I ended up letting her go. picked up a 2014 GT vert auto w 19k miles. I'm gonna miss the SGT but, I just didn't feel like building the motor to be able to put more power to it safely. so I went from an 07 w 95k miles to a 14 w 19k. plus half he fun is wrenching on these things. time to start over

You're going to need a cage just to run it at the track. I think 13.0 is the fastest you can go in a convertible.

It was a gorgeous car but that new 5.0 will make him forget all about that 3V. Best thing I ever did was sell my 3V. Not to mention that white vert is gorgeous.

According to NHRA 2014 rule book Convertibles, and dune buggies are required to have a ROLL BAR running 11.00 - 13.49. Roll Cages come into play at 10.99. Maybe I missed something in reading that so the link below is provided. Reference Section 4A, page 5 - starting at the top of the page.
Difference between a roll bar and a roll cage. Here is my link for anyone in question.

Bar/Cage ... No need splitting hairs Chad ...
At 13.49 Verts are required to have Extra Steel Safety Gear !!!
Better ???

BTW A Roll Bar is just that (Usually 4-8 point), And A Roll Cage goes to the windshield (10+ point) ...

I've been looking into roll bars and roll cages as well. According to what I have found and according to NHRA there is a difference based on application. A roll bar does not have the side bars that come down the sides like a cage does. Roll bars are 4 point point mount as well according to what I have ben told. CJ Pony parts differentiates between roll bar and roll cage as well. I'm merely quoting the NHRA specs as I hyperlinked. They as well differentiate between roll bar and roll cage. Maximum Motorsports sells a 4 point roll bar. PN - MM5RB-22.1 They also sell a roll cage PN - MM5RB-24 which is a 6 point roll cage with removable side bars.

Not trying to split hairs. Simply showing options available IAW with NHRA convertible specifications and what is available. If I am missing something here please show me in documentation where I am going wrong. Thanks.

4:10 on roll bars does not specify points of contact as 4:11 does when defining a roll cage. However the example of roll bar shown does show side car on the driver's side. Guess that is what you were referring to. I was looking at general rules and then searching roll bars and roll cages and saw the difference. Attached is NHRA regs on the same for 2015.
Guess I would need to look at a 6 point with removable side posts for what I ant to do. Thanks Aaron.

I have the MMRB-6.4 in mine and its supposed to be good to 9.99. Except at Edgewater!

Is yours bolted together? Kilkare gave my brother some crap about his MM roll bar so he took it and had it welded (shoulder bar and rear down tubes) at a chassis shop. They seem to be ok with bolted door bars.

Mine is welded except for the harness bar and door bars.

Sorry Bob for turning this into a cage thread but since you will be wanting to probably make passes in yours the information I have gotten may pertain.
I spoke to the boys at Finishline today who in turn called about a "roll bar" quote to Rob who apparently is the go-to (or one of) guy on NHRA specification on frame and rollcage/roll bars. And he stated that essentially as Aaron indicated a roll bar that meets NHRA standards for a T-top or convertible 11.00 - 13.49 ET is a 6 point device with door bars. So there it is. Apparently the 4pt Roll bar MM offers does not apply to NHRA regs so one would have to install or use their 6pt setup to comply.
Sorry if I caused any confusion for anyone. And thanks Aaron for trying to help out.

I hope you know my first post to you was a Joke ??? LOL
I just got your PM, But it seems that you've got the question answered already ... It's a tricky situation (IMO) on Verts and I wasn't 100% sure on the New models as I know they made some rule changes concerning the New Cars ... But apparently it's only for Non Vert cars ... As Usual, No Love for the Topless !!! LMFAO

hey no problem guys, this is how we learn shit. so the mm roll bar is a no go? even if I weld it in? do I need to take it to rob to have one put in that's legal? hell my buddy w his procharged d1 2v vert was running 13-3-12.9's all year at edgewater and they never said anything to him. thanks for the compliments. I was a little sad to hear the SGT sold, but yea this coyote is amazing. draggin yea I let them go with it, I wasn't even sure I would do the deal, plus I didn't have anything to drive on if I took them off

so I read on mm website and it says.
Notes
•Any model roll bar that does not include high-mounted door bars and have a welded-in harness mount brace does not meet the NHRA or NMRA rules.
well shit, if it has to have the cross bar in the back I may be screwed cause I really don't want that bar because my daughter sits in the back, and god forbid anything happens, I don't need her face smashing into it

Man I liked the wheels!!!
I have the bolt in harness bar and Kilkare didn't give me any hassle over it. Edgewater just didn't like that I didn't have any padding on it. Its nice to just unbolt it and gain access to the back seat.

lol thanks man. not yet I'm still up in the air on the style I want, debating between black w polished lip or all black. as far as which wheel? lol hell I dk yet. I still have my razors and thought about painting them black, but I'm not sure I even want those wheels anymore lol. I think as far as cosmetics I'm gonna do a roush kit except for the wing because I don't want to put holes in my quarter panel. ill prolly do the GT500 wing instead

thanks chad, I'm trying to decide on what I'm going to do about the cage. I'm not gonna get as aggressive as I planned on with the SGT, but I do wanna be able to do true street and run at the local tracks.

Have you seen the spoilers they put on the Kenny Brown cars? They look pretty good. Remind me of the Steeda spoilers for the SN cars. I wouldn't go with a black wheel. I think something like your old wheels would look great on it.

well guys I'm pretty sure I'm gonna put a cage in it. which cage should I go with? maxium motorsports and make it legal or? I want to be able to still use the back seat. something like a 4 point. will it have to be a 6 point to be nhra legal?

I would suggest talking to a reputable fab shop with experience in cages. They should know what is required and will get you the best fit possible.
