I am in the process of possibly a new job. I will be commuting a good distance daily and am looking for dependability and mpgs. Auto or manual makes no difference. Not big on looks but a/c will be a must. Budget depends on the car, might be willing to take out a loan for something new or newer, or have 2k or less beater. Any personal rides that have been dependable with around 35 mpg or better. I even looked online at some vw diesels. What say you?

Dale two guys at work have bought that Chevy Spark and are getting over 40mpg in it. 87 HP, stick shift and quite sure it has air for about 12K brand new. Engine I understand is a Suzuki. The one guy in my shop can't quit talking about the MPG. Says it is def a gas and go car.

BTW does this mean we may start to see more of you? Hope so!

VW Diesel gets my vote. 45-55 mpg and you see a lot of them with over 250k miles on them.

Jennifer's Turbo Beetle was averaging 40+ with an automatic ... I would imagine that decent driving with a Stick would net a little better ...
Plus you'd still have 205 HP on tap ...

Since I'm not a sponsoring vendor, I won't promote myself or my dealership, but I have a new Dart Aero on my lot that gets around 41mpg hwy, has decent power and runs around $22 msrp. Plus, it doesn't look like a Spark or Sonic. For what they are, they're pretty cool, IMO.
