I am helping my sister in law with her 2008 v6 stang. I noticed the harmonic balancer is bad the rubber is broke and so the pulleys and accessories are not working. I pulled the bolt then attached the puller and noticed the balancer is not moving at all. I bent the crap out of the bolts so I purchased new bolts and washers. I sprayed WD40 on it let it sit for a while and reinstalled the puller. This time I used a impact to tighten the puller thinking maybe it will help loosen it but still nothing. I then heated the balancer up with a handheld torch while using the puller while tapping it with hammer still noting and again bent the crap out of the bolts. I don't know if someone has experience a similar issue and might know a trick because I am stumped on this? any suggestions would be appreciated.:bangwall:

This is crazy, I cannot get it to budge at all. The pulley doesn't spin when the engine is running and the car only has 60,000 miles. This is the worst design ever, why don't they use a one piece balancer?

Well I gave up and sent it to a shop. I am interested to see what they say.

Me too. Ive not messed with the V6s. The 4.6 and coyotes come off fairly easily.

Did you remove the washer? I watched a friend destroy a puller that way. Crank threads survived tho!

yes I removed the washer. I came to the conclusion that the bolts that come with the puller are not strong enough because I stretched them. I probably should have bought some harden bolts then it might would have come off? Oh well it cost $340 with parts so not too bad I guess.
