My car on 80+mph decel, shop fan and blow dryer blown blown across my air intake can cause my car to shut off. I just changed out the idle control motor today and cleaned the MAF with MAF cleaner. No change with the blow dryer. I think it may have something to do with the K&N FIPK intake allowing in too much air during idle causing the stall. Any ideas?

Never heard of anything like that. Maybe its screwing with the mass air meter? Good luck getting it figured out!

Did you use a OEM Ford IACV?

Yeah, I just put one in. I drove it today for the first time this year and the rpms dropped fine clutch in at 75. I may just get a in fender cold air since it would change the angle of the air inlet.

What kind of Air filter do you have?

Did the IAC fix it.

Mine had the same issue. I took the screen out in front of the Maf thinking it would help with air flow but it caused it to stall. I put the screen back in and it still stalled, just not as much. So I spun the maf 180 and the stalling stopped. Hope you figure it out! If not get it to a tuner and have them see what's causing it. My 2 cents.

LOL I like the GONE under my name!:tongue2:

He's probably lurking in the shadows, thinking about selling that plastic fantastic and getting back into a Cobra! Seems like the norm for guys who sold their 03's for Vettes.

Yea it was LR 01 Cobra, I can't believe you remember that it's been years since I've used that name. I was on here hunting some Mustang parts for a buddy when I saw this post and decided to add my 2 cents.
I was shocked that my password worked!

LOL I do miss the 03 Cobra it was a fun car. But I don't plan on getting rid of the Vette any time soon. I love the sound of a NA big cammed car.

Welcome back! As for my car I took back to the First guy who tuned my car in 05. The MAF count was all over the place. I don't think it was ever right since the car shut off with the dyno fan the first day I had the ba3000 tuned and installed. I'll be replacing it with a ba2600 soon.

Ok it didn't work so far with adjusting the tune and its a turbulence issue. I'm thinking of changing the air box, putting the stock screen back in or going back to the stock air box. I'm not sure if this issue can be tuned out. It is worst in colder air and gets better on a warm day. I wonder if a high boost CAI Jlt kit would help. It brings the MAF farther away from the airfilter compared to FIPK RAI. It's 105mm diameter vs 90mm sct2600. I'm sure the meter airflow would change. Not sure if the tune will compensate for it.

I was talking to a buddy of mine who has a 04 and was having the same issue. He made a shroud out of a thin piece of aluminum to shield the filter from the turbulent air coming from the fan and from under the front of the car. I got better but didn’t fix it. I ask him to bring it over so I could look at it. After I added a rubber seal to the top of his shield to stop the air from going over the top it, it fixed the problem. It’s been two weeks no issues. I’m out of aluminumsheet but I have some of the rubber seal left if you want to go that route.

On a side note the Plastic fantastic went 10.8 @ 132

I might take you up on your offer. What filter system does he have?

I think he said American muscle. It's a under the hood type. It's not in the fender. I thought I had another sheet of aluminum but I don't.

I ordered a stock air box and K&N filter and after installing the stall issue is gone. In the future I may put a JLT High Boost on it.
