Im not sure if anyone else has ever had Vertigo but boy does it suck! Saturday 2-7, me and the wife was out running around grocery shopping and such when I started feeling funny. We came home and I continued to feel like crap. Figured hell with it, Im going to bed. Usually I get some sleep, wake up and feel like new again.
Not this time! I woke up Sunday morning, fell and cut my leg, went to let my dog out and fell out the door onto the porch, and continued with that for about 4 hours before I went to the ER.
They did the typical blood work, CT scan, and looked me over. Cant find anything wrong. Gave me prescriptions for Prednisone, Antivert, and Valium... Typical shit anymore when you go in to get fixed up. "We don't know whats wrong, but here is some pills"... No stroke or anything noticeable from the blood work so I was released. Said maybe an inner ear infection was causing it.
Still today I feel like Im drunk 24/7 and have trouble moving quick. But now to go along with that, I am having panic/anxiety attacks. Ive never really dealt with feeling like that before so I cant say that I would be ready to deal with those! Now I start feeling like my legs are going numb, heart starts racing, and I lead myself to believe Im dying!!! Ive made a follow up appointment for last Friday and she said the anxiety is coming from the dizziness. Said it all will go away in 3-4 weeks... Tomorrow I am calling an ear, nose, and throat doctor so they can make sure its an inner ear infection and get me started on fixing it. God I cant wait till its gone....
Anyone else ever had anything like this. Maybe some words from others that have gone through this will ease my mind some!

Brian, I hope you feel better soon. I went through a similar thing for about 4 or 5 years. I didn't have the anxiety, but I had nausea that would last for 6 to 8 hours at a time. Just that sick to your stomach feeling. I went to a few ENT docs and one foreign idiot diagnosed me with some rare inner ear disease that would have ruined my life if it had stuck. I went to another ENT/allergist that was recommended to me by some co workers, and he said that was bs and what I had was a food allergy. After that food was removed from my diet, all the symptoms went away. I mean within a week. It was fantastic. So go to a few of them before you let one label you with a diagnosis. They say a doctor has a practice for a reason.

My wife is suffering from an inner ear disease that causes vertigo and loss of hearing. Its called Mineire Disease. Nothing really can be done about it. Supposedly either runs its course and goes away with time OR you learn to cope with it from what we have learned from a team of specialists who like in your case refuse to confirm it as such. No stroke, C-scan negative, etc. Sorry you have to deal with this Brian. Hopefully it's just a getting old spell and will clear up if it hasn't already. It's not uncommon for me to arrive home and find her on the couch because she can't stand up. Her hearing goes in and out as well. This morning she never heard the alarm clock go off. I had to wake her. If we find out anything that helps on future return follow ups I will try to remember to PM you about it.

I know it isn't letting me do anything right at the moment. I can barely work, driving sucks, and I don't even feel like leaving the house! Hopefully it passes and I don't have to deal with it ever again!! Im going to make an appointment at Montgomery Ear, Nose, and Throat today. Maybe they will get me all fixed up!

Thanks Chad! That's about how I feel. Usually just lay down and hope the ceiling stops spinning! I hope its just an ear infection or something minor causing it, and it will go away.

I just remembered that a few years ago my sinuses got so swollen they put a ton of pressure on my eustachian tubes, which made me feel the same way. 800mg of Motrin later (redfirepearlgt, you may remember it as Vitamin M), the swelling was gone as was the funky feeling of vertigo. Best of luck!

That's exactly the explanation the ent gave me too. Said the allergy was causing the sinuses to swell shut and block the tubes from draining, and putting pressure on the inner ear as well. Causing me to feel like I was walking down steps when I was on level ground. lol.

Wow, I had no idea. Hopefully it passes and she regains most of her hearing. I know mine is damaged from all the years of infections and pressure, combined with open headers too. I think that's what the guy diagnosed me with the first time. I wouldn't have been able to get my competition license with that diagnosis following me around. Hope she gets better soon!

I quit taking all my medicine last night and took Motrin. Woke up this morning feeling a lot better! Not 100% but I can function again! God that was horrible!
Thanks for all the help and words. Sometimes that's all a person needs!

I had it last year. I had some sort of viral ear infection.... First time I've ever had it.
Tried to get out of bed and fell over into my dresser and knocked shit over. Was the craziest feeling ever. I laid back down in bed and gathered myself up all while thinking "WTF just happened???"
So I tried it again, and it wasnt as bad, but man, if I tilted my head or even turned my head and looked a direction other than where my head was pointing... I would fall over.
Needless to say driving to work that day was interesting!!

Never did figure anything out that could be causing it?

That's about how mine went as it started! As soon as I got out of bed, I fell and cut my leg. Just got worse as the day went! It is starting to get better now though I think. 2 days so far and Ive been pretty clear headed. Still slightly dizzy if I turn my head real quick or look up.

Well I went to my appointment with the ENT doctor today. Nothing has changed yet. Still the same shit going on, dizzy, headaches, and anxiety attacks. He prescribed me more steroids to try to fight it off. Says it's something called vestibular neuritis. It's an infection of the nerve going from the vestibule to the brain. I now have another appointment for an ENG test on the 27th. It's a test that requires electro probes or something placed on my face to try to figure out which ear is causing it. So everything is just great... Why can't this shit go away and I get back to living a normal life? I'm ready I know that for sure!!!
And steroids and me don't get along!! That's what started the anxiety attacks I think. Never had them before.

Just think, with steroids and electrical muscle stimulation, your face is gonna be RIPPED!!!!!
Wow, dude. You must have killer insurance, I saw a PA for 12 seconds, he looked in my ears, prescribed an antibiotic and anti-inflammatory. That was that. The wait was longer than the visit. Best of luck. We all feel for you!

Have you seen a chiropractor? My wife was at one yesterday and they had a conversation about that stuff. May be worth checking into.

Brian - My wife is seeing an inner/inner ear specialist for her Meniere's disease. Dr. Rabisamy. She was put on another steroid regimen which seems once again to have helped some. The next possible step (if it does not remain manageable) will be a steroid injection into the problematic ear through the ear drum. If that does not resolve it then we will then begin looking into surgical procedures. NOT CHEAP to say the least. Wish you luck. Guess this is something that takes time to resolve. Good luck.

This time around they prescribed me Dexamethasone. Supposed to be a strong steroid. The Prednisone was bad enough though. I just hate taking any kind of medicine. But if it helps, I guess that's what I'll have to do. Thanks!!

Specialist told my wife that over 70% of all Menieres patients suffer from Migraines as she also has. hey have put her on a 2000 mg low sodium diet also. Guess we'll know more in he followup in 3 weeks. If there's anything transpiring that might be of help to you I'll let you know.

I never did get the headaches. But man... the spinning and disorientation was around for a while. I think eventually you get to the point where you build up some sort of immunity to the spinning it seems. You'll still feel a little dizzy but shit wont spin. Atleast with me. Then eventually I forgot I even had it at all and it appeared to have went away. Or I got lucky

The wifey has had bad Migraines ever since she started with her Seizures. They tried a few different prescriptions for Migraines and they didn't work. I noticed they all had caffeine in them so I picked her up some Excedrin Migraine medicine with Caffeine. Have you tried Excedrin for your headaches Brian?

My wife uses Ex Migraine on occasion when hers flair up. Depends on what type of migraine she gets. Not bad stuff.

Wifey went for physical therapy for about 2 months (once or twice a week) when hers first started. It helped for a while but now it seems to come and go. Hopefully like you said Jess its something the brain and body adjust to and makes it tolerable.

Usually I don't get headaches unless it's sinus related. The dizziness and headaches I think are coming from the one issue. I just wish I could find a doctor to fix the problem and I could get on with life. I'm at the end of my rope with this crap! I took 1 of the steroid pills and I felt decent last night and part of today but now it's back and my eyes are bugging me. It never ends!!

(It might not work for you his verdago is all in his head and would get so bad he would get dizzy vomit and pass out) good luck.

Yeah mine isn't that bad. I get real dizzy when I bend over with my head on the floor and almost black out but not during normal things. I quit taking the steroid because the side effects made me feel worse than I did. Today wasn't so bad! Still slightly dizzy with just a little pressure in the head. Maybe Im on the road to recovery!! I can only hope!
