As most of you know, I sold about everything I had and made a deal with the devil! After a couple years of bugging MWoods, I finally bought his Comp Orange 04 Cobra. I don't know what my plans will be as it is already pretty damn nasty!

It is a stock engine with a 2.9 Whipple, ARH headers and X pipe, Magnaflow exhaust, Solid axle with 3.55 gear, S&M Motorsports custom fuel system, and a bunch of other goodies! Tuned on E85.

As of right now, Im going to just enjoy it. Make some of the cruise ins, car shows, and maybe a Street Car Shoot Out if it goes on. Its just something that the whole family can enjoy and they don't spend most of their time sitting on bleachers in 100 degree sun at the track.

And now for some pictures. It was dirty from bringing it home but it will be cleaned up soon and Ill get more pictures!

Picking up a set of 28x10.5 slicks this weekend from Bill (2fast4you) to throw on the Alumastars. What's the issue with the kmember Brian? I like to know this stuff before I get one and install it and have issues. The UPR K Member with tow hooks that is installed will not allow you to change the oil filter without loosening the motor mount and jacking the drivers side of the engine up. Even with the tow hook removed, I think there will be a clearance issue still.

That's probably what Ill do later in the year. Its ready to come out now since its starting to warm up so I hate to have it down for any amount of time. I haven't ever looked the price up the oil filter relocation kit so Im not real sure what they was before. Between the fitment of the k member and the oil getting all over everything, its almost worth it to have.

Ive had good luck with their K members before. AJE was always good for me also. The weight and everything else does play a role in it though but there are others running them with no problems.

Yeah it sucks! Ive talked to Sharad a few times on FB about it but he hasn't offered any advice or anything. I didn't make a big stink about it because it was already installed before I bought it but it would be nice for others to not have to deal with it either. Ive used a couple of the UPR K members in the past and didn't have any problems with them. Both in the fox body and in my old 03 GT. Ill figure it out later. Not really bugging me to much right now since its warm out and I can drive it. It just makes it rough changing the oil!

I was actually feeling a lot better than usual so I went out today and worked on the Cobra. Got it all cleaned up and drove it around for a while. Feels awesome!!! Scared the shit out of some woman that was talking on her phone at a stop light with the window down! I think she really did shit a little!

Also started to get it ready to race. I removed the front sway bar. That was 12.4lbs.
Put the Alumastars on the front. The AFS replica's was 54.4lbs each and the Alumastars are 30.4lbs. So 24lbs lighter per wheel.
Total weight removed was 60.4lbs!!

The original idea was posted at Mustangworld as a how-to. So guys call them Mustangworld ramps. They did them as 2x10s and didn't angle the ends. I went with 2x12's and beveled the ends. Heavy as hell, but that's good since they won't slide forward when you hit the first lip. If i did it again, I'd bevel the ends at a steeper angle than 45 degrees.

Probably pissed a lot of people off when I would tap my brakes to get a good look and listen as he passed! I may have to make a set of those ramps for the wifes Camry. Those metal ramps are not the best, I have to jack the car up and set it on them! Thanks for the pics. Rims look sweet too man.

The Holley 12-1800 fuel pump took a shit on my way to the track. Both pumps failed. I beat on it enough to get it loaded up and brought home. Jacked it up and removed the pump and took it apart. I don't know much about E85 but Id say from the looks of the inside of the pump, its not good to sit. Its gummed up pretty bad and both screens was pretty nasty. Here is some pictures of the housing and screens! Hard to see all the shit in the screens but its nasty.

I dont think you should give up on E85, you just have to think about it more than regular pump. I know its a pain when the stations arent close but you could buy a drum to use when you cant get to a pump. Thats my plan, buy a drum and only use as needed. If you tune to pump, you know the drum is better. A friend of mine is trying to talk me into tuning to E70, you can always blend down and then your good all season through the winter blends too.

Magnafuel 4703 with a -12 feed to the pump is what'd I'd run for your setup. Add a stainless 100 micron pre filter and stainless 10 micron post filter. Fore makes the 10 micron SS filter.

You could run the Bosch 044s too- but you have to be careful not to get Chinese knockoffs though.

Yeah Ill probably keep it and buy a drum. I hate to lose the power it makes.

Ill probably look into another Holley 1800 since the fuel system is already built around it. Maybe later on look into something different. I need to pull the filters apart and see how they look also.

Do you really want to try your luck with a Holley pump again? Pumps failing under boost could be an easy $10K failure.

draggin50
04-25-2015, 10:30 AM
Yeah I know what ya mean. I just called Holley Tech support and they are a joke. The 12-1800 pump isn't rebuildable and they wont just sell you the 2 pumps. Hell its 6 screws to tear it apart and its only the 2 pumps inside....

I like having 2 pumps like the Holley but Im with you as far as failures. Im going to call Adam at S&M and see what he thinks but Ill probably go with the Magnafuel 4703 like you mentioned.

Installed a new Holley 12-1800 fuel pump last night so I could get to the track today. Everything worked great and I made it there!

Made 3 passes today at the test session. None was worth a crap but I learned some things!

1. Don't leave on the 2 step mid day on the little slicks! It don't move! Managed a best of 2.16 60 ft. all day.
2. Bilsteins wasn't made for the drag strip! Left flat as could be and didn't transfer any weight I don't think!
3. The N2MB WOT box scares the shit out of everyone! Even the people who know its going to do it!
4. I to learn how to drive this thing!

My best and only 1/4 mile pass was 11.59@132. 60 ft. on this pass was a 2.34. Spun like crazy! I need to start working on the suspension. It makes great power but it don't mean shit if it can put it to the ground.

Got some pictures though! And I ended up having a good time seeing the racing and taking with friends!
Not quite 60 ft out and you can see some tire smoke. Not good!

I was able to get back out tonight to Kilkare for test n tune. I think Im starting to figure out how to launch it. I still need work but its a lot better! I drove it 90 miles round trip on the slicks and didn't have any issues!

First pass was a crappy 2.25 60ft and went 11.45@131.73 Better but not by much!

Second pass is where I started figuring things out! 1.73 60ft, 7.00@105.31 and 10.74@132.82! Im happy!!

Last pass would've been my best. 1.71 60ft, 6.92@107.07 1/8th mile, and then it shut off on me.. The N2MB box has killed the car on me twice now. I know Mikey said it did it once to him also so Im going to look into fixing it. 1/4 mile time was 11.35@92.31. I wish I could've got this one done!!! Maybe my 10.50 pass!!! Oh well, always next time!

Not much to update. Swapped out the rear shocks to the Strange 10 ways and the 26x10 stiff wall slicks got my 60ft down to 1.52 and 10.56@131 and some change. I still need to get the antiroll bar on so I can lean on it a little more out of the hole. I think there is still a little left there.

As far as making more power and losing some weight, that is my next direction. Id like to swap in some Kirkey seats to start with. Probably lose another 100lbs easy with just that. Then Ill be on the hunt for a set of injectors. The 80's are maxxed out as it is so maybe some ID1000's or 120's are in the future. I know talking to Adam, the crusher inlet and upping the boost can happen after I address the injectors. And maybe add a small 40 or 50 shot to cool things down. I know people see a big jump in hp and torque with just that.

I need to pick 2-tone's head a little about the small kit and see how his reacts.

If I could leave on full boost and had some better suspension up front, it might! I need to get it scaled and see what it really weighs.

Id like to see it on 24 psi before the end of the year. Maybe get that 9.90 out of it!

On the 150 shot my car picked up 177 torque and 91 hp. This was a nitrous express proton wet kit. My bottle heater keeps the bottle around 950 psi so the car is a little fat. It would make a little more power with more bottle pressure.

Stock front seats are 106 lbs total for both. Likely closer to 60 to 70 at best once you put some brackets on those Kirkeys. I have weights of all the stock interior parts in the link in my sig.

Always nice to see the orange rolling down the track! Lets hope for a mild winter. Remember El Nino for what its worth can generally create milder winters if I recall right. I know it made winters in So CAL much easier to take, that along with Santa Anna's. Who knows, we may find ourselves putting rubber down on a fresh reopened Tri State before we know it...HOPFULLY.

Now if it gets a little warmer tomorrow, Ill get it out and see how it feels. I know the Toyo's don't like it already. Spins worse than it did.

It had a 3.55 in it. Im hoping this will get my 60ft. down in the low 1.40's. Maybe a 1.39. That would make my day! My best so far has been a 1.52. I think if I can shave a tenth in the 60, it will go some low 10's as it sets. That and adding 2lbs of boost with the 4lb lower and ID1000's, and suspension work, I think it will go 9's. I need to get it back on the dyno as well and see what it does once everything else is done.

I don't plan on changing much up for this coming year. Just want a little more boost and suspension work. I think with that and the 3.73 gear, Ill get my 9 second pass. If I keep it after that, it may get upgrades but that's a ways out yet and I don't keep them very long!

I have a 10# Metco 10 rib lower if you are feeling froggy. You would just need a 10 rib alternator pulley, upper, tensioner pulley and idlers. ASP and/or Metco can hook you up with those. I have some 10 rib uppers and alternator pulleys that'd work with the 10# lower. You'd just need the tensioner pulley and idlers. Throw some spacers on the tensioner to move it out slightly and you have a 10 rib belt setup!

It's the 3.4L and up blowers that break cranks due to the mass of the rotors and gears. Yours is a KB isn't it? My 10 rib uppers won't fit that anyways, they are for a Whipple.

It's up to you, but if you are interested, we could make a 10 rib setup happen for you. I have other lower pulley sizes as well. I have 6, 8 and 10 lb lowers. The only difficult part would be getting the tensioner pulley made. I wouldn't mind getting a hold of that stock caged lower you are selling BTW.

Thanks!

The house isn't nothing real fancy. A double wide on a foundation with a large addition. But I grew up in trailers so this is an upgrade for me! And it's mine.

I'll have to swing by and check out the new digs sometime.... how far is it from your old place?

Well... Making a few little changes trying to get that 9.99.

Ordered a set of Strange 10 way front struts and UPR coil overs with 14-175 springs. Picked up a set of stock GT springs for the rear and I have an airbag to go in the passenger side. Kirkey seats and a set of 5 point harness's are also on the way. Figured I can shed a few pounds, get it to 60ft, and it will go 9's!

Ill be picking up a set of new slicks also. Tried and true 26x10 stiff walls.

So far my quickest pass was the 10.17@138.84. Id love to see 140mph.

Brian, no ARB in the rear? 14-175 seems a little stiff. Whats the car weigh?

175 is probably pretty close on a new edge with an iron block 4.6. The 14-150 were so soft on our sn95 the front came up so quick it cycled 4 times before it was past the tree. And that was with lakewood 70:30 struts, cromoly k member, bumper support removed and a fiberglass hood. We had to switch to 14-200 to calm it down a little. This was with 4.56:1 gears and a manual tranny which did not help. The switch to 200lb springs took the 60' from 1.72 to 1.66. I am sure there is a point where softer is better but it was also much more stable on the big end.

165 lb/inch springs are on the front of the 14 now with Strange 10 way struts. That's BMR's drag spring spec for their 07-09 GT500 with the 5.4L iron block engine. I considered a QA1 coil over setup for the front with 150 or 175 lb springs if this setup didn't work out for me.

Should have stayed with the 14-150 and upgraded to better struts. The 70/30's couldnt handle the rate of the 150 spring for whatever reason. Swapping to the stiff 200 took poor rebound dampening out of the equation as the 200 spring was most likely barely compressed..

No anti roll bar on the car. That was my reasoning on going with the airbag instead. I know its a band aid but I really don't want to interfere with the exhaust or cut the car up.

The car probably weighs around 3700 with me in it. The k member and A arms up front and the solid axle out back lightens it up some. Mine has a 3.73 gear.

Right now my best 60fts are right around 1.50-1.55. I did have one that was a 1.47. That only happened once though. Id like to see a 1.39 or better.

And right now it has Bilstein struts up front with 12-250 coil over springs. The rear are just Eibach lowering springs with Strange 10 way shocks.

Actually, I have the Strange front struts and 14-175 springs on. Started on the rear. I have a set of stock 99-04 springs to put in but I ran into a problem.
Nice bushings...

Terminators are one of the only Mustangs that I'm interested in anymore. Maybe cause I had one and I barely see them anymore.

They are the funnest cars I have had. I would probably say that about the Corvette though if I had one. Decent power and fun to drive unlike racecars.

Thanks Joe. Hopefully I will get there this year. I got closer last year with the 10.17 pass. The MPH is there.

I hope you get it. I was stuck at a 12.0 in my srt4. I wish I could of got a 11.99 before I got rid of it. You are really close!
