There have been some say that newer model cars are NHRA approved to go 10.99 before needing a cage because of the improved crash protection in the newer model vehicles. I have always heard 11.49 and lower requires a roll cage however prior to this statement last evening. I looked through the NHRA guide for 2014 section 4:11 starting on page 21 today on line and was unable to locate anything on this as I skimmed it a few times. Couldn't find anything in the ammendments index section on roll cage requirements either. Is there anyone who races full time that could clarify this for me? I'm not interested in caging the car and I am more than happy to run no faster than 11.50, but IF I can go 10.99 before needing one then I want to pursue that. Thanks for the assistance.
