Finally heading to China

After nearly 20 months of paperwork and red tape, we are finally heading to China to bring home Benjamin Zi Ang Thompson. I can't wait to get another Stang and introduce the little fella to the world of horsepower! 2 weeks in China should be pretty cool too!

PS - Shelby is still hanging in there in spite of being on a 3 med regiment and quarterly bouts with pancreatitis. Still happy and active.

Not to be nosey but, is adopting from another country easier than adopting from within the states? I ask cause I know 3 families with adopted children from Guatemala, China and Vietnam. Never dawned on me to ask them this. Congrats BTW.

There are actually MANY factors to both adoption processes that play into that decision. We actually fostered to adopt here in the states for two years without so much as a prospect. It was rather puzzling, but we decided that was not our chosen path. International adoption is very expensive, but the process is what it is and the child becomes yours much more decisively. For example, our friends traveled to China in May and brought back their daughter. While in the process, they took in a foster daughter with hopes of adopting her as well. They are still trying to complete the domestic adoption and the court process is horrendous! Also, some relative could pop up out of no where and get custody of her. Both are long, arduous processes, but are well worth it!
