If you find one take the head off and have a shop fix the head or it will happen again.....your almost better off scrapping it. I lucked out and found a wrecked one when the exes went

Or look in to swapping the dohc in it can be done

I agree. Seems like the sohc ones like to drop valve seats. The dohc is the way to go. I have one in my 01 hatch and it is great.
