So I bought a set if heads off this guy this week and he send me a message yesterday and said he was packing the heads up and noticed a bolt was broke off in the front of the head that he had forgot all about. I already paid for them (PayPal) so I'm not that worried about it, but he said he tried to drill and E-Z out the bolt and broke a drill bit off in the bolt. So he took it to a machinist to see if he can get it out and the machinist is struggling to get it out because of the bit. He said it's the bolt for the alternator bracket. I'm going to put a couple pictures up of the head and wanted to See if you guys think there is anything I can do to still use them. I have a god friend who is a bad ass fabricator with access to a water jet and can make about anything.I got a good deal on them and would like to have them but if I can't use them because of this bolt I will get my money back. Any advise would be great! Thanks! Here are the pics.

I think you will need to take it to a good machine shop that can put it on a drill press to get it taken care of. It will then more than likely need to be Heli Coiled but doable.

Ok that's what I was thinking. Or just make a bracket off something else to be able to hold the alternator. My buddy is a hell of a machinist and he said he could drill it out bigger and heli coil it form me. I'm going to be running a blower so the alternator won't be there anyway but I think the blower bracket mounts up to this hole also.

Cant you just run the head on the driver side? Had to do that on a bbc once.

I'm not sure. I know some engines are side specific not sure on a fox. Anyone know the answer to this? I'm thinking they are side specific or those holes would be in back when you bolt it on the other side.

Just verify you have the same holes on both sides of the head, they aren't side specific.

Being a machinist It's possible if it was a high speed drill bit he broke off they make left hand spiral cut End Mills that as you try to mill the drill out it will possibly help back out the drill as its working but its a long shot but worth a shot

This..^^^^..just bolt up that head so the broken off bit is at the rear of the engine, where it's not needed.

Thanks for the help guys. His machinist got it drilled 1.2 inches in so if I can't flip it I can at least heli coil it. Thanks for all the help.
