SO pissed off about Team UPR JUNK. Bought the Chrome moly k member with tow hooks and spring perches, went to install it and this things a piece of shit. I havent checked with the hood down yet, but the engine cannot slide down to the bottom of the motor mount slots, like the factory k member, and might sit to high now. I had to remove a ground strap because UPR thinks the k member belongs there. The website says the STOCK control arms work, thats a good joke. Not close to fitting, tried hammering on the tabs I got so pissed and cant get them to move enough. The stock steering rack bolts are too long and you need to buy shorter bolts, NOT mentioned on their website. Its also not mentioned that the factory cross brace on the k member cannot be used. Thanks for the business, wont happen again. Ill be giving them a call or email tomorrow when I have time.

UPR has made a crap K member for over 10 years. A simple search on any Mustang board for "what K-member should I buy" turns up dozens, if not hundreds of threads of people bitching about UPR quality.

I put the same one except with their a arms and coil overs in my Cobra a couple years ago when I did my long tubes and had most of those same issues. Was dissapointed with the quality for sure. Ive planned to swap it out pretty much since the day I installed it but still havent got around to it. The tow hook is right against my oil filter. I have to unbolt left motor mount and jack up engine a couple inches when I change my oil.

forgot to mention on the passenger side I had to push my brake lines 1/2-3/4" forward to clear it, and now theyre very tight against the k member, which means over time theyre going to rub a hole in themselves. I dont expect anything to work perfect, but im fucking pissed.

Team Z makes a quality K-member if you send that one back.

I'm sure you can bend the pads on any of them with enough power, they do use lightweight materials. If your bending the pads, it's probably time for a motor plate.

Huge fan of my PA Racing kmember and a-arms.

They do make good stuff too. :bigthumb

I've seen just about all tubular k-members bend the engine mount pad. In fact on the same night, MFIEFD, Rixx93GT, and I all did it and we each had different brand k-members.

I've installed pretty much most of the brands of kmembers out there, and they all have similar issues to what you are experiencing. It's an aftermarket part, it won't fit like a stocker. Some are a lot worse. I am going to get with Team Z and see if I can start pedaling their stuff and see what all the hubbub's about. I bet their stuff needs the same shit moved and same fitment issues, and I've never seen a UPR use stock lower control arms btw. I always thought they were proprietary.

Mike, how do the MM pieces go in?

Got it figured out, but still not happy. I ground the edges of the control arm bushing sleeve down and it fit with some fighting. I forgot to mention that I had to push the solid brake line group forward and its now jammed against the k member. And the motor mount thing is a huge problem, my shaker hood scoop is mashed against the hood because it sits about 1/2" higher.

You have to modify and move brake lines around with most of them, if not all. They fit fine, but they are not a lightweight Kmember, they tell you that they aren't for weight savings, unless you call 15 lbs for all that money weight savings. If you are going road racing, their K is the only one to run unless you just stay stock.
