Harley Davidson refused to fix the clutch and transmission of a guy that had flags mounted on his bike. Harley claimed that the excessive wind resistance caused the problems.
I don't care what HD says, waving flags will not cause transmission damage.

I'm amazed they didn't see this becoming news. Never been their biggest fan by any means, but this is laughable.

Found this article interesting. May explain why he received such a ridiculous reason for warranty denial.
Here is the article: http://www.businessinsider.com/harley-davidson-ceo-keith-wandell-turnaround-ford-alan-mulally-2011-11
Allow time for the stupid advertisement before going to read it.

I haven't walked into a Harley dealership for "Harleys" since about 90. I bought an soft tail off Farrows then sold it because of school bills. When I graduated I went back in to the exact same salesman to buy another soft tail and they tried to fucking make me but a sportster or low rider and then trade it back in when a soft tail became available. They would not allow you to buy a big bike without a trade in. Mean while they are selling all their big bikes to the dick head doctors and lawyers that will never use the damn things. Perhaps they may want to consider how they alienated their base customers in the 90s.
I do sneak in the back to get some Buell parts now and then.

The guy is a legend, in the HD community.......and he is an ex-politician and attention whore.
My take, is that HD is claiming wear and tear. There would have to be a defect, in order for them to warranty. HD will not warranty drivetrain parts, if you tow a trailer (they used to sell hitches, but no longer do), and this is kind of the same thing. Also, HD did not void his warranty....just denied the claim.
Have they missed a public relations opportunity.....yeah, maybe. But then, every Tom, Dick and Harry will scream about other warranty claims that the Company rejects.
And, before anyone starts on me, I'm not a big fan of dealers....of any kind!
