Ok I have a question on a converter to use?? The set up is a stock block 302 with twisted wedge heads, stage one cam, and a systemaxx intake. Transmission is a PA C4, going with a transking brake. The rear end is a 3.31:1 gear. The current set up is the same but only with cast iron gt40 heads, and a frank lupo foot brake converter with a 5k stall out of a nitrous car. LOL which yielded a crappy 1.90 60", remember the car didn't have a transbrake though.

questions:
1. What stall would you guys recommend, or would i look at my power curve form dyno sheets?

2: How much does a typical restall cost?

3: Should I send it to Lupo or have a local independent shop do the restall??

4: Should I just buy a whole new converter and sell this one??

Thanks guys for all the imput

Best advice....deal directly with a converter manufacturer. Send them dyno sheets, cam specs, etc. they are the experts and will give you exactly what you need. Be prepared to pay quality money for a quality part. A converter is the single most important component in an automatic car. Call Lenny at ultimate converter concepts and see what he has to say.

Call PTC also...they should be able to restall your current convertor if it is in the ballpark and you don't need to go to a different size. Tell them everything about your combo...more info the better. They have a spec shheet you can fillout on their website.

everytime i call lenny he says $1000 lol! one of the best though.
alot of fast guys running ptc. little easier on the wallet too.

did it hook or was it spinning with the 1.90 60ft?
thats lazy for 5000 rpm off the line.

the only thing that scares me about my current converter is that it came from a nitrous car, i have heard turbo converters have anti balooning plates and other needed things.

as far as the 1.9 it was off the foot brake, if i mash it all it does is spin. i can get the car to recv to about 3500 before it starts to move

if its a good conv. to begin with it should have anti baloon plates. not just turbo conv. use them.
nitrous conv are usually on the tight side so they dont stall too hi when they spray is on.
i had a 3600 stall n/a conv but on the hit it went to 5000-5200 but it 60''d in the 1.40's.

i would make it hook first then see where your stalling to.
