We just picked up a new L96 for the rock buggy. Can you tune a buggy on 42"s and 5.13 gears?

What trans? What 5.3? Would have guessed better with those heads, LS6 intake and cam. What does "mild" cam mean? LOL.
I for sure thought you had yours running and it was a vid of that. Should have stuck with the T56 and spray. Thing would be ready right now. Who am I to talk....

Engine for engine. Obviously there is a weight difference between a fox body and a S197+ vehicle.

Obviously. Difference is this is a cheap motor.

I wasn't weighing cost into the factor. So the LS engine has become to todays hot rodder what the carbureted 350 SBC was to 32+ Ford hod rodders in the mid to late 20th century. An economical option to a Ford power train for a hotrod build. Gotcha.

Idk Walter. 5.3 plus ported ls6 heads, ls6 intake, and the cam and all associated valve train parts. There's a stock 2013 5.0 with 5 miles on it for 3500 on esc

Don't forget the electronics package that goes for around $1500 that you need to run the 3500 coyote engine, or the gear to lock out the cam phasers and go with a carb..... That stuff adds up.

to be honest I would just run the holley Hp efi for either of the swaps

Hell. No. Way too much money for what you get. Give me a megasquirt, and let me us the cost savings to buy gasoline.

Same applies for an LS swap right? Need the electronics kit to make it happen.
I like Pontiac GTO's, and G8's (the V8's that is) and I owned a 93 Camaro Z-28 which was fun also and better stock than ANY stock 93 Mustang at the time. Hell I recently considered trading for a late model Camaro until I saw the hideous interior in them. The LS# as the LT1 is a great engine. But I will remain purist. That's my belief on the topic. Great innovation for those that like to cross breed for a multitude of reasons, but I prefer staying Ford/Ford or GM/GM...unless its a Corvette and then they all need Ford Coyote Swaps...LOL!

Partly - there's plenty of carb'd LS engines with MSD's running the coils. The same could be done with the coyote, but you'd have to crack open the cam phasers and lock them all into place, re-degree the whole engine, and then wait for somebody to release an affordable carb intake manifold for the coyote.
Also, if you wanted to stay EFI, you could easily run a megasquirt for either system - but you'd loose the variable valvetrain (just like a carb) to do so. That system is honestly what makes the coyote run so well, and without Ford's electronics package (or stealing a complete harness/computer from a junkyard) the engine is behind the 8 ball in my opinion.

Holley will be able to control VVT within the next 3-6 months I would say. I wouldn't run a mega squirt if you gave it to me. :bigthumb
