Hey guys I am in need of a title and vin tag for an 86 mustang notch. Please let me know if you have one and how much. I've got an 86 coupe that was bought yrs ago with only a bill of sale and it was just a track car well we have it about ready to go and is now a street/car so I need a title so I can tag it. Thanks!

Is this real life lol? I had a dude on craigslist text me about the red 91 GT I was parting out asking if he could buy the title and vin plate. I sent that dudes phone number to a police buddy of mine in a hurry.

What's the problem fella's?? I'm not a criminal nor is there any funny business going on here just need a title as this has been a track car all it's life and the last known owner has been dead for yrs now. Looking for one that's laying dead with no hope for it that has a title. If you can't help stay outta the thread simple as that it's not hard!!!

This cars vin was fully checked by the police before a purchase was ever made on the car and we had no intensions on ever putting the car on the street but things took a different turn after the build now we would like to tag it.

The issue is that it's against the law. How do I know the car isn't stolen? Is the vin tag still on the core support? If that's gone as well whoever sells you a vin tag and title can also be held liable.

Thats another good way. Thats how I got the title to my '88. Certified letter will be sent to last known address of the person, if it isnt picked up or returned to sender within like a week, you take it to the title office and youre good to go.

The OSP are the only ones legally allowed to change a VIN plate.

I'm in the same boat, I bought a race car that has been bought and sold twice since the original owner built it. I actually have the title and a bill of sale, but the title is signed over to the second owner so its dead to me. Nobody has bothered to title it I guess to avoid taxes.

I may someday put the car back on the street or maybe not, either way it would be nice to have the title in my name.

You may want to have your Buddy check on that because I believe the State has changed the laws on mechanics liens here recently too, And it's not as easy as it used to be ...
Just my $.02
