The wife wants a new FWD Escape and I am interested in any comments regarding the 1.6 or 2.0 Ecoboost engine option.

I have driven a Fusion with the 1.6. Decent power and good mpgs. I thought it needed a little more, Escape I'm assuming is a little heavier. Never driven the 2.0 power train.
I sold my sister a used 2013 with the 2.0 and she loves it. I did get her the 4x4 but I think it's her favorite car she's owned.

I have the 1.6l - peppy would be an understatement! The Ecoboost rocks! We drove a 2.0 and to be honest, couldn't tell much difference. The 1.6 gets about 22 mpg around town, 32mpg on long hwy. trips. The only issue is the on-going recall for an overheating issue with the 1.6 (supposedly a heat shield replacement coming up in a month or so). The wife loves it. The AWD is a beast in the snow!

Granted it is AWD, but our 2.0L is for sale.

Been a great vehicle just need something bigger.
The 1.6L seemed very aenemic compared to the 2.0L. Wife prefered it big time.

I looked at yours and showed it to my wife. The Escape we have now (2004) is gray and she wants a silver. The 0% financing on new cars is also attractive.

By the way, what MPG did you get with your Escape? Thanks.

No where near Fords claims of 22/28 if memory serves correct.
See 18 around town and best was 22 on a trip to Florida.
Though it is a fun car and driving can be spirited.

Kind of how I mentioned, really depends on you as a customer, where one loves the power of the 1.6, some think it's underpowered.
def going to depend on her driving style

I have a 1.6 and cant really complain. Its not overpowered but its not underpowered either. I usually see around 24-25 mpg and have seen 30 mpg on the highway for an extended time.
Edit, mine is AWD to

6 recalls in 18 months... might want to wait until the ecoboost versions stop turning into external combustion engines before you start making payments on one.

I believe that applies only to the 1.6L version. I have not run across any similar issues with the 2.0L engine.
