Anyone get their property tax surprise today? Our school levy passed and it appears to have effected property taxes by better than $300 per $100K of assessed value. WOW! Wasn't expecting that much increase. Properties were not reassessed in our district this year either.

Don't even get me started. I built my house in 2001 and now my taxes and insurance are more than my payment.

6 months after buying our house, appraised at 96k, county came an appraised it @ 101k...guess to get those extra funds for the Little Miami college campus down the road. On top of a $165 citation for my dog breaking his collar the other day...I'm starting to dislike Warren County. Property taxes, pay a separate local tax also. Anything they can do to take our hard earned cash.

Mine dropped a couple of months ago by about $100 a year. I pay a little over $2k a year.

I pay between $3600 and $4000 for the "Privilege" of living in Montgomery County and the city of Dayton. I can't wait till we get this house sold.

If you think the valuation of your house is wrong you can appeal it but I think you have to do so before the end of January.

I think that varies a bit by County. I think in Montgomery County you have till March 1.

Get used to it. Ohio cut the money it returns to localities by 50% during the Great Recession. The State now has a budget surplus, but don't expect any relief for the counties or cities.
