Well I know what we've become....a bunch of f'n pussies! Schools and businesses are closed because its cold? Hell WPAFB is closed today. Do they close the base in Minot, ND for months at a time because its cold up there? What are we teaching our kids when they cancel class because is cold? Dress in layers, put on your hat and gloves, and just deal with it!

Kids get sick pretty easy and with it being cold like it is I'd rather they cancel school than my kids get sick then have to take off work to take them to the Dr. schools anymore don't want kids coughing/disturbing the rest of the class so they tell them to stay home anyway.I work outside so the cold/heat don't bother me.things have changed I never had to worry about some kid bringing a gun to school and killing people when I was in school...

WPAFB may be closed, but some of us are still working. Hell, I've been working in Michigan for the last week, and returning to Ohio is like a warm summer vacation! The only thing I don't have that I'm going to buy today is a scarf. Other than that to make it easier to breath in the wind, I didn't mind the walk this morning.

Nanny state. Isn't it great??? Just think what NFL football will be like in twenty more years. Every game will be a tie, they will only play when the weather is good, and everyone gets a super bowl ring and goes to Disney World. Heck College is already that way. Go 5-5 and you get a bowl game. Must be 50 bowl games now for college.

Hell I had to work outside all fn day today. I've been home for about 3 hrs and I'm still balls cold. I can tell ya the 70 mile drive to our work location was pretty damn hairy and I personally wouldn't have wanted my kid on school bus this morning.

36 years ago I walked to school in cold like this thanks to no bus service, it was over a mile. I did stop in the King Kwik across the street to warm up until the school was opened since the janitor was late that day.

No kids died from the cold that walked to school.

Then again I worked 20 years in -10 to 35 degree warehouses so I might be a little strange :)

Hell, everybody knows the Russians won't attack if it's cold!

Let me just say that I am glad my employer has closed the office many days d/t this cold. I am grateful. B/c I am one of those horrible drivers that crawl at a snails pace in snow. Why? I had a horrific accident at age 16 in snow, totalled my car, and have been petrified ever since. Plus...we don't get enough snow to really learn how to drive in it.

So call it PTSD...but really..it makes me a nervous wreck. I hate it. But I take my slow driving ass to the far right, where I should be. GIVE ME A BREAK.

On the other hand...I see ppl driving 70mph in the left lane and creating a hazard to themselves and everyone around them b/c they fail to see the hazrdous conditions. Untill they cause a wreck and take out themselves and the 5 cars around them.

Moderation is good. Regardless....try to put urself in the shoes of those around u. My slow ass has been traumatized. Others may be from Montana and can safely navigate at 60mph in 3 inches of snow. Just get out of the way or deal with it!!
