So I did a bad thing a few weeks ago and test drove a Harley. Big jump from riding sportbikes my whole life to a cruiser, but we're thinking about selling the 95 to get one. Who else around here rides? All my old riding buddies don't ride anymore and the one guy I know who does is annoying as hell.

Another rider here. I ride a Suzuki VL800 Boulevard.

I'm probably much older but I rode sport bikes back in the day for years. I rode a 78 Z1R from Northern Ohio to Southern Cal by myself when I was 17. I switched from Jap bikes to a Soft tail back around 90. It was a really nice bike but I just didn't like it. I ended up buying a Buell S2 new in 95 and kept if for years till I had a kid.

I'm hitting 50 this year and it seems I get a little nervous every time I get on a bike now. It seems like so many guys are getting fd up in the last couple years.

I'm looking at something a little more stripped down. Street Bob in black denim. Thinking about V&H staggered short shots to go with it. It's definitely different then my CBR. A buddy drug me in there after I was in the bike store next door (Honda, Triumph, Ducati, etc.) and I was floored by the price of sportbikes. He convinced me to just go look at a Harley, and I wanted to see if they had any Buell Firebolts. I've always liked Harleys, just thought I would get one when I'm older. Then I rode the Street Bob and loved it. I told the wife I was getting one soon and surprisingly she jumped on board and came up with the idea of selling the Mustang and getting it. SO, once we get settled in the new house it'll be up for sale and the bike will come soon after. We'll have to see about setting up a ride.

Haven't ridden street a bike since I was 19. Sun radiating through the windshield with the windows down as a Supercharger whines just over the V8 drone coming from under the hood is more than enough taste of freedom for me these days.

Ive been around plenty of Harleys including a 2010 Street Bob. LOW quality IMO. No offence. Just not my thing I suppose. If you are shocked at the price of sport bikes im not sure how the Harley dealer didnt put you into cardiac arrest. Keep in mind sport bikes can justify the price with technology and race efforts. Not saying harley doesnt have race efforts, just NO technology.

I'd love to try a Buell 1125R just once. It's a little too sporty for me now as I'm a little to old and a lot too fat. I'll buy any Buell tuber that is in reasonable driving distance. I have two Thunderbolts and a Lightning and I love em, someday I believe they will be worth some money.

I stay the hell out of two places, Ford dealers and bike shops. The showrooms are like heroin to me. I can feel the adrenalin pumping and man it is just too easy to suck me in. I just avoid all the drama and stay the hell outta there, when I take the fords in for service I go straight to the service dept and stay out of the showroom.

One of my guys bought a new streetglide last spring and put a bunch of goodies on it. Super nice bike all blacked out and sounds bad as hell.

The Triumph was a 675 and it was 11,600 and a 2012 model and they weren't moving on the price. They had a 2005 they just sold and it was the same exact bike. No change (other than maybe some computer program). The R1 I was looking at and the CBR1000RR were both around 13K. The Harley dealer has a program for active duty military with a special interest rate and no down payment and took some money off, so it'd be just under 13 for the Street Bob. And at least they'll hold their value. I've been looking at used ones and they're only a grand or two less than a brand new one.

Oh I'll be hearing the "Turbo" whine soon enough. Just miss getting on a bike and riding again.

I have owned a few bikes, katana 600, gxsr 600, gxsr 750, and a cbr 929. I loved them all but when I rode my first Harley I was sold. 2002 soft tail I think it was a night train(my buddies bike), but moved away from them when we lost two great friends who were killed on one. We were headed to meet them for a ride back to my house to drink. He was not answering his phone. 6 hours later the cops showed up at his parents house to tell us he and his girlfriend had past in a motorcycle accident. I held on to the last bike for a few weeks then traded for a mustang. My wife even sold hers. I have never felt the same since, as far as bikes go. Not trying to steer you away just my experience. He was a great rider and one hell of a guy but when on a bike its not you that you have to worry about its everyone else.

I've been riding for over 20 years. I usually have a cruiser and a sport bike. I got a vstar 1100 a few months ago and will either be getting a Honda fury and selling the vstar or keeping the vstar and getting a hayabusa in a few months. We def need to get a ride going.

A lot of us on here ride. Walter and I rode some last year and hopefully a lot more this coming year. I hope to be able to keep up with him now. Those 10R's are fast.

Harley Davidson.... the most effective way to turn gasoline into noise without the side effects of horsepower. I think some Harley riders and some diesel guys are the biggest ricers out there.

LOL. You just wait. Mexican fringe are coming back! One Fairmont at a time. I guess I'm just not old enough to go cruiser yet. I still enjoy the raw power too much. Plus, I've had dirty farts that sound better than the finest exhaust on a Harley.

I used to ride a bunch. I've traveled all over the lower 48 on two wheels, done two 1000 mile days. I'm about ready to get back into it now the that the kids are a bit older. A trip to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska has been calling my name for a few years. I've owned a Honda ST1300, Kawasaki Concours, Suzuki v-strom 650, Honda Nighthawk.

I'll take it as a compliment that I'm too young for a cruiser! No fat chicks here. I removed the rear pegs completely so no passengers here. Don't be mad that my bike does basically anything and everything better lol.

I love the rush of a liter bike but I will say if you get a bigger engine cruiser bike it's a different kind of rush. The seating position gives a whole new feel. I like having both. Also I hate having someone on the back and my wife and daughter like to ride with me and I hate having someone on the back of a sport bike.

Since I had a sportbike I know what the feeling is like, and yes, I love it, BUT after riding the Street Bob I started enjoying just cruising and having gobs of torque. I'm building my mustang for speed. This is going to be purely cruising. Plus my CBR was a ton of fun, but on long trips, not so much. Started hurting my lower back and it was the most comfortable laid over the tank. If I do buy a crotch rocket again it will be an RC51. If it's anything else it will be a Harley. I still love the sound of them, I don't care what anybody says.

Hi
Rode a long time Lambretta, hondas, suzuki's etc.. Now have a 08 Road King and go on a lot of trips, Florida Keys/Daytona last year, Myrtle Beach bike week etc....
Doesn't have the weight to power that other bikes have but goes plenty fast and I like it!! First bike I haven't wheeled... :) Maybe someday!!

Going back to Daytona Bike week this year in March... might trailer down this year.. snow on the ground when we left last year. :(
Any way lot of fun!!! Don't get the stang out as much now...

Yeah my CBR got annoying after a while. To "ricey" v twins sound so much better and have a lot more torque to play around with. Only problem with the RC is the passenger seat is about the size of a pack of notecards so the wife won't ride. She's all for the HD though.

We called it Frankenstein. It had a 91 frame 97 body, engine and trans. Bigger carbs, jet kit, computer, ohlins shocks, some kind of work to the intake, bunch of little stuff. I loved it because it looked like a old slow 600F3. My ex brother in law use to make fun of me until I ran him in his new (2006) R6 and spanked him. My best friend had a Buell Firebolt 12R and stop light to stoplight he would pull away from the torque, but once I could get those RPMS up he couldn't touch me. Sold it in 2007 right before I went to Iraq because it kept breaking tensioners and finally blew apart 2nd gear. The guy at the performance shop I always went to said it was making too much power for the trans and to rebuild it strong enough to hold it was going to be 3x the value of the bike.

You must be a better rider as a stock 2006 R6 makes about 20whp more than a modded 600f3.

I'd love to have a Harley, just can't justify the price. My last bike was a GL 1100 Goldwing. Owned it a very long time. In all the years I owned it, never had a single problem, and believe it or not, I once brought the front wheel off the ground. Plenty of power, and one smooth ride.
I now own a Suzuki Boulevard (VL800, C-50) and I love it. Kind of has that Harley look, but I was able to write a check and pay for it in full. I'm very happy with it.:)

4n_eatr

Oh it's not a Harley. In fact the only HD thing on it are the bags.
