I found a guy, claims that he rebuilds and sales whole t5s rated for 450hp...for 900$ with a 6 month or longer warranty i forget. Any thoughts gentlemen? Has a shop and everything. Scobee transmissions in indiana.
I've got 2 t5s (core trade) that i would put in toward that 900$
His card says he specializes in mustang transmissions.

Are you saying this is why its $900 hundred? I guess thats bascially my question how could you make the t5 rated for 450hp for and sell them for $900 bucks?

Keep the drag radials off if want it to live an no more than king cobra clutch. Most trans places will tell u this. Gearset used be $350 an $60 for support plus $100 for cheap syncro kit wb earings so he's making lil money.

There, fixed it for ya. lol. I've done hundreds of T5 rebuilds over the years. Most people on here are not old enough to remember me running 10.6's on a windsor T5 on small shot combo. I did it for years. They work if you can shift and you use a soft clutch.
With that being said, the parts from Tremec are now either being discontinued or are tripling in price. Most of the rebuilds you see out there are using import parts. I try to use everything Tremec I can, and only use import stuff for the parts Tremec doesn't supply or are on intergalactic back order. Chances are it's a decent T5 and he's not getting rich selling them.

Back in the day Rodney Massengale (RPM transmissions current day) was building pretty stout T5s pretty cheap but he also had access to complete gear sets and all the parts directly from Borg Warner 15 minutes from us up in Muncie. I did a google search of said shop and builder and got zero results. It's a gamble but if he will back the warranty it's worth a shot. Are you planning to put that much power through it ?

Centerforce DF works really well and doesn't shock the trans that badly.

Ok cool... Question if I turn the boost down and run like 320 or so rwhp on some et streets could I drag it if I don't power shift I've never been down the track and would like to go next year

That sounds reasonable.

I have had excellent luck with ACT clutches. Running a little less power than you are hoping for, but making it work reliably for years now with BFG drag radials and a T-5.

Keep ur eye out on a 3550 they pop up for around what u are going to spend on that t5 and that's usually with a clutch and bellhousing and shifter. Just keep looking before u pull the trigger

Ok will do. My main thing is I have two t5s for core trade in so it would cost 500$

That would be cheap enough, a t5z would prolly hold up with a soft clutch as mike said

How much do those run? I'm just looking to run the built t5 for the summer and get a tko or something next winter. i just want a fun street car, to cruise to meets and what not. Maybe 4-5 passes just to see what it has the potential to do with out a decent launch.
