So I've been debating on selling my Mustang this coming tax time...and going to the dark side....:barf:just kidding I would never do such a thing but I am thinking about buying a fox body preferably a vert but I might settle for a coupe and an auto or manual depending on the route I go. So say it all goes the way I have it planned in my head lol what would be a better set up a turbo 5.0 or 351w? I talked to my buddy and he says either would make a fun car. I guess it all probably depends on how much I get out of mine...oh and I already have permission from the fiancé to buy and build up a fox as long as I'm under or equal to what I get for mine

It's harder to make a vert chassis hold the power. You wanting to put a cage in it?

Not sure, wouldnt really want to see a cage lol not sure that I need all that power right now either, my wimpy Mustang is the most powerful car I have owned so far, I'm just tired of 4 and 6 cyls pulling away from me (turbo'd ones that is). And what ever it ends up being will be my daily driver too so yeah lol not worried about mpgs im getting 15-16 now, just drivability.

There's always someone out there faster. You need to figure out what you really want and formulate a plan. Otherwise you'll be spending money on stuff you'll eventually regret down the road. If you want a cruiser, buy the vert but if you want to start making some power with a fox, then pick up the coupe or a hatch. At some point you'll still need to address the chassis depending on power but at least you'll have a better foundation to build on. Head / cam / intake stock 302's make good power but factory turbo cars are quick these days, so it might not be enough. If I were going to go through the trouble of changing over to a 351, I'd go in 1 of 2 different routes. Turbo the 351 and take advantage of that 351's block strength, or take the easier path and stroke a 351 to a 408-418. Both have their pro's and con's. It just depends on what you really want.

Paul408 has (or did, no contact with him for some time) a fox with a 351 Windsor setup in it. Started the build and stayed on track as a Turbo setup. Even N/A running low compression that car ran high 11's on a good day. Then came the day he got the turbo setup complete. I saw it but never saw a pass. It was awesome. I was so excited about him getting it done I can't remember the final numbers. They were way up there.

Well if I can get 6000-7000 for mine it will probably be a go...so that will be my budget including getting a car. Thinking a turbo'd 5.0

Good luck getting a good car and throwing a turbo kit on it with that budget, deals are out there but most good rust free cars are getting pricey

How much would it cost to rebuild a 5.0 to handle turbo, maybe not now just down the road...or how much would a 351w cost? Also debating just selling the mustang and buying a truck or jeep wrangler or grand cherokee

A stock shortblock will handle a turbo and make enough power to split the block, just use good head gaskets and have it tuned, I would buy a descent set of heads and intake so it doesn't take as much boost to make power.

Well everytime I get in my car to go anywhere I talk my self right back out of getting a jeep or truck haha, nothing like american muscle haha, even though mine doesnt have much muscle...but this makes me like the turbo idea haha, know anything about the on3 turbo kits? Or any other good brands for a single turbo?

I would do what rick suggested. Coupe or hatch with a cam/heads/intake swap then work on suspension. With the right set up running 12 in a 1/4 is very possible plus it'll be easy to drive and good on gas. Plus it gives you a good platform to work with later on.

Hellion!!! Jesus he said he had a budget of 6-7 thousand, my buddy has had pretty good success with the on3 kit on a fox with stock ported heads,e-cam, trick flow upper and lower and it made a shade over 500 to the wheels.

I meant for his car that he has now... by the time you upgrade the on 3 you could just about by a nice Hellion kit.....I'm cheap like that Marcus!

Cold air 75mm throttle body, 3.73 gears, off road x, super 44s, short throw shifter...thats about it and it has 162xxx miles on it currently and I drive 50-60 miles a day during the week. I love it, just ready for more power and from what I have researched and looked at more power is cheaper in a fox body...?
