I don't have a lot of experience with manuals in Mustangs so I really don't know whats what. In a previous thread that I don't want to jack any more some one said the ultimate transmission for our cars is a TKO600. Well I found one for sale with a sbf bellhousing and driveshaft. My question is will if fit in my 90 LX without any issues, I want it to look factory and don't want to cut anything up.
My plans are to build a 450-500hp NA motor for street use.

Yes it will fit with no cutting ...it moves the shifter back a little.like maybe 1inch or so...if you run the stock exhaust hanger bracket on the tranny mount and you use a h pipe with the hangers you may have to shorten the hangers holes up some.which that will allow your mid pipe to go forward so it will seal up to your headers...a lot of people don't use them...other than that your good to go!

I appreciate everyones help so far, ok so it will fit and I'm happy about that. Now I have to ask why a T56 over a TKO600. Will it hold 500hp and alittle abuse and are they easier and cheaper than a TKO600.

X2 shift mine over 7500 all last year. Just use carbon syncros an reworked rail. Whole synchronized /rail/finger kit is less than $500 shipped. If ur drag race that monster t56 is way too big an heavy unless u trying prove a point an be different.

The weight difference is pretty minimal.

I've been all over the web looking for comparisons and it seems the T-56 in stock form is a little stronger and heavier and may have some fitament issues. However it seems to be more popular.
I think for me it boils down to is what I can find a deal on first.

If 30#s is minimal then yes. T56 is more street road race oriented were tko600 is a toploader w od

BTW if u do it right an actually keep driveline angles proper u will have to beat tunnel a lil to get output shaft centerline back stock anyways. Otherwise driveshaft will angle up to rear ask me how I know. An that's w teamz drop solid motor mounts

I'm not sure about fitment issues mine fits like it was made for it. I'm running 4:10's with a 347 and here's why I like it, running 85-90 on the high way and it only runs about 2700 rpms and with having 6th gear it doesnt top out.... ever lol

One last question, since the Ford swap is coming up soon in Columbus and I'll be looking to buy. For both trannys are the exactly the same requardless if it was in a Ford, Chrysler or GM.

ALso since the tranny is moved back a little I had to shorten my driveshaft to get mine to fit.

Stock length in mine did u put ur motor in the rear slots of ur k member? That's assuming u have tubular one. If so that's y

From what I've been reading about the t-56 swap, the driveshaft needs to be shortened, the crossmember has to be relocated or you can buy one special for the t-56, and you need to rewire the reverse gear to use the sensor in the t-56.
