Ok, My car was damaged by a careless truck driver.
just rock chips, but a bunch of them. so I have been thinking about painting my whole car to make it something different.
Right now its Grabber Orange. So my thought is to fix the rock chips and turn the Grabber Orange into a Tricoat with a midcoat of pearl over the orange. I just need to try to pick the right pearl color to make it pop.
I want to tape off the stripes just like a GT500 but say GT350 and pearl the car then peal off the tape and clear the car. and no snakes going back on other than the one on the grill. so I need help with what color pearls to use for the test spray outs. sorry for the long post.

You can see 2 tape marks thats the base color, left side is copper pearl, middle is 50% copper & 50% orange pearl, right side is orange pearl.

I think the one in the middle and the right look ok but I think the copper pearl on the left is too flashy looks like it belongs on a Cadillac

This is factory grabber orange with orange pearl in the clear. It gave the color more depth for sure. Have you tried silver or white pearls just for shits and giggles?

I had the same issue from some careless guy in a truck with his tailgate down dropping gravel out the back. Now I have tons of chips and will need to be repainted.

heres a hint,
Silver metallic base over whole car. Copper metallic stripes over silver then.....
Orange candy over everything!
that way the car will be candy orange and the stripes will be under clear and just a few shades darker :D

The only downside I see to something custom like that is that when you have rock chips again, it's going to be a thorn in your side. Good friend of mine's car is sitting right now because the damaged custom paint pissed him off so much he doesn't even want to look at it.

its an off the shelf PPG vibrance Orange glow mix just switching up the base a little, so if it gets damaged shouldn't be to bad to fix. as long as we document everything like mix ratios, coats, temp and humidity when its done the first time.
