Early last summer my mother-in-law was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) which is more commonly known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. If you aren’t familiar with the disease it affects the motor neurons in the brain and spinal cord which control voluntary muscle function. There is no treatment or cure for the disease. Eventually those affected by the disease lose the ability to walk or pickup anything. As the disease progresses you lose the ability to speak, eat, and eventually breathe. The average life expectancy from diagnosis is 2-5 years but unfortunately the disease is progressing much more rapidly in my mother-in-law. In an effort to help raise awareness for the disease and to help fund research for a cure my wife and will be taking part in the local Walk to Defeat ALS. Your moral support is greatly appreciated. You are willing and able you make a financial contribution you can do at the link below.

Thanks for the link. My donation was also matched by my company. They are associated with ALS and are on the list of participants who will match any employee amount according to the link. Glad to help. And it was placd in your honor anonymously.

Sorry to hear Cameron.
ALS is a CRUEL disease. I watched my boss (Active Duty Captain at the time) deteriorate rapidly on a daily basis until he was forced to retire.
My neighbor also has ALS. Fortunately for him, he's quite wealthy and has hung on much longer than most folks that get ALS.
I don't see a PayPal link to donate. Can you post up a link ?

Chris I'm sorry to hear about your dad. It most certainly an awful disease and I wouldn't wish it upon even my worst enemy. It has been a very rough year with lots of highs like the birth of our son and of course lots of lows as well. We are fortunate enough that my mother-in-law has the means to pay for around the clock care as well. I dont know what we would have done otherwise.
Thank you for your support and donations.

Thanks to those that do donated. We had perfect weather for the event this morning. As of 11:00 this morning the walkers have raised $66,000 for local ALS programs.
