So this weekend me and my step brother are planning on pulling his motor and transmission out of his 96 GT. My question is where is the best spots to put the chains for the engine puller? Also we have already removed the throttle body, intake manifold, alternator, and I believe he removed the cooling fan and coolant overflow. We also plan on unbolting the headers from the mid pipe, or would it be smarted to unbolt the headers altogether? Any insight is appreciated on anything like anything else we should unbolt still.

are you pulling the trans with it?
i always pull the trans and use bell housing to engine bolt and a front bracket bolt
if not i would bolt the lover intake and get one of those intake lift plates
and unbolt the headers from the motor it just gives you a little more room

Yeah I always used the top trans bolt hole and the alternator.

We don't have the option to drop it out the bottom.
We are pulling the trans he's thinking about switching to a 5 speed possibly

Yeah I was reading up on it and seen that we should get the load leveler, does anyone know if autozone or anyone loans them out he's gonna have the motor out for a while.

I think a 20# sledge fits into the BMFH category so you should be ok.

Lol that's very true, I'll have to call and see if autozone has that in their rent a tool program
