I've heard that the BAMA tunes are junk, but a guy down the street has one for a Mustang he no longer has. It's for a 4.6 2v and he only wants $50 for it. Can I erase the BAMA tunes and have custom tunes added to it instead?

yes, but it still wont work on your car. The tuners are usual vin locked and get to be sent into SCT to unlock them for $150

Unless he pulled the tune off the car before selling it which is doubtful.

Is there anyway to tell if its "unmarried" without hooking it up to my car? Still 200 isn't bad for an SCT.

Just found out its an SF3. I was hoping it was an Xcal but is the SF3 still a decent one?

If he put his stock tune back on his car it should be ok. Some of them have limited unlocks. If not like said before sct will unlock them for $150. Plug it in to your car and see what happens. It won't down load a tune unless you tell it to. If its married to his car you'll know. In my opinion.

Most get 5 unlocks. Like stated if it is not married it will offer the option to download. Someone who tunes with SCT may hgave the software to unlock it, if all five unlocks aren't used up.

I use the SCT SF3 in my 06 GT, You have 5 unlocks available from SCT factory and to check on being married or unmarried, plug the tuner into your home computer and the device will come on, select device info and scroll down until you see unlocks left and down a little more will be device married or not.

I'm going back to my buddies today to look at it and plug it up again before I buy it. Last time I plugged it in it said 5 unlocks available but I don't remember it saying "married" or "Unmarried". Does that mean its probably still married?

It will say if it is. 5 unlocks simply means it has never been fully reset by SCT as I understand it.

hmmm. I'd say its worth a $50 risk. If you can't make any headway with it, bring it with you tomorrow eve to Kil-Kare. I can take it home and plug it into my computer and see if my download software will tell us anything on it. I can get it back to you at the poker Run on Sunday.

Cool that works. Thanks! It doesn't have a USB cable with it. Dot know if that makes a difference.

A lot of printers use the same USB cord. It should definitely say if its unmarried or married when plugged into the car though. Go into settings and look around?

Ill play around with it more today. Even a cheapo code reader is still 50 bucks so I figured I'd risk it, lol

Tried to connect device to my ford download software. Is looking for a new driver I do not have. Sorry. Will bring it back to you on Sunday at the Poker Run. Was unable access anything. May have been because it IS locked up. Either way what you paid and the 150 price to unlock (if a local tuner can't do it for less) you are still winning.
