Finally found an 03 Cobra that I liked enough to bring home after my 2100 mile fiasco to Texas and back. Bought this from up north of Columbus. Its an 03 Cobra with 38K miles and clean as hell! It has Reichard Racing 2.80 pulley and aux pullies, Fluidyne heat exchanger, catted X pipe, Borla catback, MGW shifter, solid axle with 3.55 gear, Racecraft lowering springs, tubular k member, and Steeda caster/camber plates. Ive got a Stegmeier stage 7 ported supercharger on the way with ported plenum and TB. It goes to Precision Autosports next Wednesday to see where its at and where its gonna go. Here is some pics!

Just got off the dyno at Precision and it made 421/450 first pull. Ended up with 444/468. Not bad for nothing but a pulley, exhaust, and CAI pretty much. I have some parts on order so hopefully it will start picking up power soon!

Jeff and Chad at Precision are good guys to deal with!

Well made it to the Cincy Speed SCS and made 5 passes. Couldn't really get a clean one but did manage a best of 12.72@117. It was hot as hell and the car didn't have a lot of time to cool down. Also my driving pretty much sucked! As far as the car, I added the Accufab SBTB and plenum so far. Im thinking the 3.55 gear didn't help it out as well as the Nitto drag radials.

Now Im trying to figure out where to go from here! The Weld Alumastars are on order (17x4.5 with Hoosiers) and I will be ordering the MM rear brake lines to get the 15x 10 to work on the back.

The fuel system and a whipple appears to be next.

Anyone have any suggestions to get this car where I want it to be?

What are you goals for the car? Its has a SRA right?

I'd like to be able to run 9.90's and keep all the creature comforts of the car. I love the A/C and stereo!! It does have the SRA already with just the 3.55 gear and the rest is stock.

Get a whipple, e85, tires, clutch, input shaft, then go run 10's

I've been looking into a whipple but I don't know which one I am getting. 2.9 or 3.4??? The tranny would probably come out and either a th400 or 4R70 would go in.

06-25-2013, 04:45 AM
If money is not an issue go with the bigger whipple. The smaller one will experience more stress than a bigger one. I think they have them even bigger. Or you could go with a TT setup or one big single turbo. You'll definitely have to upgrade the rearend if its a stock SRA. Look into a set of 3.73's. E85 will also help. A lot. Or high octane. The key will be getting it to hook. Here's a video of a guy going 9.82 6sp IRS with a/c. If you read through the comments he explains his setup.

Enjoy

Ive got spherical bearings and PA racing upper and lowers for the rear so far. Weld Alumastars 17x4.5 in black for the front, Should be here today. And Im going with the 15x10 in the rear with black centers.

Im going to need help with the fuel system since Im not sure whats best.

Get with Adam at S/M performance. He is the go-to-guru on these cars and knows exactly what you will need to do to beef that fuel system up correctly including running larger gauge wire to support the increased current load that larger fuel pumps (yes two) will need to operate at maximum efficiency.

RT Vickers, MSwoods, PKfire, aperacer, and 700mystic are some others to turn to on these terminator mod motors that have done lots of work on them just to mention a few... SN95N/A is another I just remembered as well. He is messing with TT's on his setup.

I got dibs on first shot-gun ride along!!!!

Fuel system info.........Svtperformance.com and Corral.net are sites you should look into. They will save you some money on parts. Lethal performance also has fuel system packages. I'd do a head cooling mod if you pull that Eaton off. Just a little insurance.

looks good man. to save a bunch of money y not put a cheap kit and a bap on it and spray it with 150. but if you got the cash id go 2.9 whipple, e85, and a triple hat with 340's or the holley pump as adam recommended to me but I already had the division x hat. either way u go it will be a blast and make good power. good luck brian on the build....

draggin50

Made one pass tonight and managed to hit every gear! Hit the limiter right at the end in 3rd but still pulled off a 12.39@117. Had a 1.97 60 ft time as well on the Nitto drag radials. Im starting to get the hang of it!

Plans are to remove some weight, get the rear Alumastars on with better tires, and add some power somehow! Still debating what to do!

Latest update...
Went to Kilkare and made 2 passes. Couldn't grab a gear to save my life. I need to get the adjustable cable and quadrant and be done with it! First pass was a 1.79 60 ft, 7.93@83 in the 8th, and a 12.38@112 missing 3rd gear. second pass was 1.89 60 ft, 7.88@90 8th mile and a 12.28@107 missing 4th. The tranny is my nemesis!!

The clutch release is way to low for me so I need to change that. But overall Im still happy with the car. I know it will go 11's the way it sits if I can shift it.

I did get the MM rear braided brake lines on and now the 15x10 Alumastars fit and I have 275/50 ET Street radials to go on them. I still haven't put the head cooling mod on or the EGR delete yet.

Trying to play with all the cars has forced me to sell the white 03 GT so now I'll be able to focus on this and the 85. Since I sold the white car with the alumastars, I'm going to pick up a new set in black for the rear. Thinking of the 15x10 with 6 inch bs and a 275/60 ET street radials. Does this sound like it will fit ok?

I believe you will need 6.5" backspacing and a 24mm offset. American Muscle offers the 15x10 in this spec for the edge. I am assuming that fitment should be the same unless there is some wierdness going on with that IRS setup that would cause interference. Double check though. Thought I remember backspacing being more than that when I had my 02 GT. Enjoy Brian. Its a great looking car.

This is a picture with the 15x10 6 inch bs and 275/50's. I put them back on the GT before I sold it. Id rather run a 28 inch tire to fill the hole better.

Well since winter is in effect now, the car is put up and waiting on a round of mods. I still have a few things setting here that needs put on like a Stage 5 ported blower, NOS plate kit, PA Racing upper and lowers, Boost bypass, EGR delete kit, and a Lethal head cooling mod... Now I need to get the motivation to get it all on and get it back to Jeff at Precision.

Also since the clutch started to slip last time out, Im thinking of doing a 4R70 swap and putting in a 3.73 gear as well. I wanted to keep the OD so I can enjoy it out on the highways cruising. Not wanting a whole lot more out of this car since its got fairly low miles and clean as hell. 10.90's would make me happy.
