Buying another Mustang has me thinking about when I first bought my 88GT. Being in college and a Mustang club and running around with muscle cars. And then I started thinking about the websites I was on. (This being one of them before I changed my handle) and one of the sites that was fun to look at was Anti-rice.com. They always has photos of stupid imports and the rediculous things that did to their cars. So I head over there today to see if the site is still up an if so, what it looks like now (after almost 10 years). What was a site to make fun of ricers has been infiltrated by the same people they ridiculed, lol. All it is now is importers talking about how they "killed this Vette" or "Showed this GT500 my taillights"' lmao. What is wrong with these people? Go to any muscle car website and for the MOST part, people aren't like that. They're very welcoming of other cars. I remember the days when Fast and Furious just came out and it was always muscle vs import. I think they ended up losing the battle an are still butthurt over it.
Ahhh youth....

I to this day just do not get the import thing? Why the fuck would you want a damn Honda over a Mustang or any other American made car?

I can see it if you're looking for a good reliable family car, or a sporty daily driver to go back and forth to work or the grocery... But performance car? We had a guy I worked with that was a "tuner" and I showed him my build list of my "dream" engine (when I had a fox) A 331 procharged 5.0. He couldn't believe the cost. He said he'd have to spend 3 times that much money to make that much horsepower. Of course this was also a guy that said a 250 hp CRX would run high 11s at the track...

Mista Bone
06-08-2013, 12:02 AM
A 250 whp CRX will run high 11's, 180 whp will get you solidly into the 12's, that is if you know how to get the car hooked and can drive.....and still get 40 mpg daily driving.

Personally, I don't care what it is, fast is fast.

But this fucking "stanced" look is idiotic.

Function before Form.

But they will never sound as sweet as a V8, like Fox Notch.....

The fastest civic I've ever personally seen was a low 12 car with tons of stuff done and there's no way it was a street-able daily driver. People keep telling me about the CRX but I have yet to see it happen AND drive home. But if I was going to build an import, id build a Monster Miata, lol. I used to run around with a guy who had a 1st Gen Eclipse that ran 12's and he'd bitch everytime something broke because it was never a cheap, simple repair.

I always hated imports but a good buddy of mine that I was in the reserves with helped me see the light just a tiny bit. He first had a real clean single turbo Supra and then a R32 GTR. They were both nasty cars and turned heads everywhere. Going really fast when you are sitting in the "drivers side" with no steereing wheel or pedals in front of you is an odd feeling. I would still take my Cobra over either one but if I was going to own an import it would be something high end like one of his two cars. I would never own a fuggin Civic or CRX. Im way too cool for that:lol:

Drive a CRX with a nice powerplant, not the stock 60hp shit, with a decent suspension and youll change your mind about em. They weigh practically nothing so anything over 200hp makes it pretty quick. Buddy of mine had quite a few of them over the years and I was pretty shocked how well they stayed planted to the ground. Definitely fun down some curvy roads. :D

I dont doubt that it could be a fun little little car to drive but not fun enuff for me to own one. I shit you not when Im at home sometimes I open the door to look at my car in the garage and it makes me smile when it is just sitting still. No CRX is going to make me smile sitting still. I bet even the fun factor of driving one with a nice powerplant and suspension would ware off rather quickly

A CRX will make the Fiero feel sloppy and slow.

Goto a WOR autox sometime. While a normal del Slo handles like a pig, there is a 350 whp one that I helped on that does OK on the highway and twisties.

Now a sorted Fiero with a V8 swap, hell yes!

Is that because you cannot afford the gas to go drive it? I can take my CRX out and flog it for about 1/3 the price of gas as you and both will be an ass puckering experience.

There is a CRX I'll be helping on in Maineville that just did a partial shunt at Daytona Chumpcar series, off Hopkins....

In the end, with equal levels of prep, you would be surprised just how equal the cars are when racing in the three main venues. Why do you think I loved drawing a Mustang or 4th Gen F Body when I did T&T, I knew it would be a good race to the stripe when my old car was on the bottle (13.1) and Dedpedal or others were running mid high 12's a decade ago.

But honestly, I'd like to combine all the knowledge. Tuning for both FoMoCo and Honda has come a LONG ways in the past 15-20 years. I would love to build a Fox Notch with a 2.3T motor that can run 11's yet get 30+ mpg on the highway.

How deep is your wallet, how fast do you wanna go? That formula will never change no matter the make/brand/country of origin.

I'm having fun on my current budget and when it comes down to it, THAT is all that matters.

For old times sake, I treed Kevin/Dedpedal, he beat me to 60', LOL!

The Fiero GT was a cool, cool car. And yes I've seen several V8 swaps on Fierros.

There were some nice looking jap cars. The first that caught my eye was the 1984 Toyota Spura. IMO the coolest looking japanese car of the 80's. That said I wouldn't trade a V8 muscle car for one ever.

Until the turbo blew up. But I would like to have an SVO. It took me a long time to admit that I wanted a 4cyl turbo but when I did, it was one if those.

For starters mine don't run on gas and my pockets are deep enough for the car to burn all the corn its little heart desires. I don't keep track of miles per gallon. My car makes smiles per gallon. Not trying to make the debate about price tag or wallet size. the fact of the matter is if you took all the money in the world you still couldn't build a CRX or Civic that Im going to consider a cool and attractive car. I just don't care for them.

Hell no! Never! Lol. It's still a mustang. But then again I wouldn't put a Fart Pipe on a Civic SI if I had one either. There's a 05-2010 Mustang V6 running around the Miamisburg/ West Carrolton area with DUAL fart pipes... I just shook my head... And then cried a little.

You Jelly?

Now about 15 hours a week, Mon -Sat of work which GREATLY interferes with me getting to the track but the job is so easy I can't just walk away from it.

You have a Dog or Cat thats gets blood, urine or a stool sample pulled, or worse a mass removed by the Vet, yeah I get to pick it up to transport to the main IDEXX lab in Worthington/Columbus.

Yeah, walking into clinic seeing a family sobbing because their pet is terminal, usually because they lacked on the pets care, knowing you might be picking up their specimens for tests when you know in your heart, the pet is terminal. The 5-8 year old kids are the worst, they just don't understand why, yeah I end up leaking a bit.

Walk a day with me, you'll have a different outlook on life.

Strange turns indeed. We used stihl at work for awhile. All of our blowers are stihl. But we have 2 redmax backpack blowers that are pretty good but their old. Takes a minute to get them going. Stihl products are pretty good. It just seems like the Hondas we have are smoother and more user friendly. Meaning that it takes regular gas with no mix. We have some employees that don't understand that there's more than one type of fuel. So they are always putting the wrong stuff in the equipment. Even with signs on them. We keep all of our regular gas in 5 gal red cans and all of our mix in 2 gal red cans and mark both. Still don't work. I wont even go into the diesel trucks.

Im the type of person that feels like if you take of something it will last you forever. I wouldn't hesitate to use stihl or Honda products.

I personally just had a hard on for Kaw weed eaters, but they were real bad about the carbs gumming up. I only used one Stihl, and it was too heavy or un evenly distributed, I didnt like it too much. Same think with Echo, I forget what models we had, but something about their power band screwed me up. Had good luck with a few shindaiwa blowers as well

edit: I forget if it was how they were hung on the trailer or a design flaw, but those damn Kaw weed eaters NEVER ran in the rain. Always got water in them and thats probably another reason the carbs were so screwy.

That's what I was trying to say in my first post. I don't personally hate imports. It's the immature drivers I can't stand.. For the MOST PART, muscle cars guy are very accepting of anyone with a fast car as long as they don't have the "import mentality". That sure as hell doesn't mean I won't make my "ricer boy" comments, but I can take it as good as I give. (That's what she said)

You still have that Gay Miata with a flat black hood for your boy friend that you got engaged to Track Queen so you can drift it around Mid-O. o?

Well you bought two pieces of shit, then tried to buy the baby momma a house, does it have wheels?

I've bought a house or two, bought two new cars, and got married, had a son, I'm now a Grandpa.

While you try to mock me, you follow the path I took.

While you jest and poke me, you follow my path.

Wanna see how it ends?

Forgot to reply to this. I do not have the miata, my house a modular home, no wheels, I don't have a baby, and my Camaro SS or GTP is worth more than anything you own. Just because I've bought a house and new cars does not mean I'm following your path, I would think every American does the same.
