I tunes users, how to move songs...

I used to do all my iTunes on my laptop, about a year ago, I got a newer laptop

I've used the network to move the songs from one computer to the other, but, when I load them on my wifes ipad for example, a good portion of the songs show up gray instead of black, and they won't play

i'm assuming this has something to do with moving the songs over

any input on the best way to do this when you go to a newer pc to make sure you have every song

See if this helps. I think they show up in a different color maybe because it doesnt have the original file.
