Hearing about all this stuff being pasti-diped or painted, has me curious about maybe spraying my welds, regualr rims, or heck even the car. Just curious how many people here on the boards have their stuff done or tackled the job themselves, and could post up some results and thoughts as far as prep and was it worth it??

I did the emblems on our Explorer and the Pony Emblem on my car with it. Just make sure the surface is nice and clean. I used Alcohol on the emblems. So far so good, we even run the Explorer through the car wash and its held up fine.

All the plastic was dipped. Except the gas tank. Havnt had it out yet but if it peels ill just do it again cost 24 bucks to do it all.

My brother did his Cummins, makes the truck look much tougher, and has held through the winter sludge with no issues. I plan on doing the 240sx project when it gets ready to roll. The kits you can buy even offer a glossifier to make it shiny if you want.

I forgot I did my Mach 1 Chin Spoiler in it as well. Filled in some gouges and is very durable. You can bend the lip and the stuff goes right with it. Doesnt crack or peel off like paint would.

Lowes sells the flat black plasti dip. I bought 2 cans awhile back but havent used it yet. I plan on doing the grille on my Fusion and possibly the wheels. Watching You Tube videos of people spraying it on their cars got me interested. Seems to be very popular stuff and at the price its worth the risk if you end up not liking it.

They say that if you get any chips, that you can just reapply and it fills right in.

My fox is 2 toned with it. The more layers the better it looks. My cobras were done in it snd theybhelf up fine for 4 month til I got tired of it. Hood is still good 8 months later. I hsve a little peeling around the door jambs and by the hatch. Easy touch up.

Ever since I added the black CDC chin spoiler I've been considering plasti-dipping my side skirts to match. The stock Vapor silver has a few nicks in the paint. Thought about doing my wheels too but there are just so many black wheeled cars right now. Maybe some plasti-dip gun metal spokes.

This is the basic look I'd be going for:

The more I look at this though... darn those black wheels look great on there!

I plasti dipped my stock wheels on my 11. Just cleaned them well. Got a deck of playing cards placed them between tire and rim. Spray on thick coat and add more coats as needed. I've had those wheels on my sons car for 2 years. Had to touch up a couple spots, have been really impressed with it.
