I bought a faceplated tko with out 5th gear a while back and decided i didnt want to run it because my car sees the street way more than it sees the track but these t5s wont hold up. Im looking to put 5th gear back in the tko so is there a way to figure out the ratio of 5th in this trans and who sells the gears? Im going to need the gear that goes on the bottom shaft and the 5th gear shift fork. Anyone know where i can get these parts and how to figure out what ratio i need?

To figure out what ratio you have - make a mark on the input shaft and a mark on the output shaft. Turn the input shaft and count the number of turns for each. For example if you turn the input shaft 10 revolutions and the output shaft turns 15 - 1/2 times, you have a 1.55 Overdrive gear (15.5 divided by 10). You can do this for each and every gear.

10/15.5 = .645 gear ratio.

You can't do these calculations to see what your 5th gear ratio is without a fifth gear in the trans . I'd call tremec or a tremec specialist , Hanlon, liberty , swarr etc.

Exactly! I did a 5th gear reinstall about 6 months ago, and Hanlon's wife was extremely helpful!!!!

Call Joe at D and D, you'll need a TKO or 3550 5th gear more than likely unless it's a 600, they are all the same. You will need the gear, 5th gear slider, shift fork, and you may need all the needle bearings and spacer as well. It depends on how they deleted the gear from the trans tho. I have mine apart and am doing the same thing to it. I'll do the other one when I pull it apart as well.

It was my transmission that he put 5th gear in and I think it was about $250 in parts for my TKO500

Here is a link for the 3550/TKO manual. And my apologies, I thought you were trying to figure out what your ratio was, I missed that you didn't have one! (And yes Bone, I was upside down!)
