Question for gun people

my ex wife put me in a mental hospital for a night and i was wondering if after so many years if i would be able to buy a gun again. i tried today and i answered all the question honestly and i got rejected and i was wondering if i can get that off my record or if i'm just sol on being able to buy a gun the legal way again. it was ten years ago she did this to me and i was only in for one night. hope you all can help me i really hate not being able to get my guns thank you

There is a process to deal with things on your record. I'm not sure what it is though. There is a radio show on Saturday afternoons called "Shooting from the hip" on 95.7 out of Dayton. I would call in to that show and ask for their advice. Was your app denied or delayed? You should be able to contact your local Sherriff and get more info also. Did you give your SS# on the 4473 form? Sometimes people get delayed or denied because other people have similar names that can't own firearms.

Yes you can get armed again. Local lady I know out of Lebanon on meds was cleared by doc's and was able to purchase a hand gun through Target World.

You can have it expunged. Get a lawyer or do it yourself ( I think). Not sure of the process but it can be done depending on how long it's been. look it up on line, there is probably info on it,

You can also appeal any denied application. Google "NICS appeal" for the propper forms from the FBI website

it was my ex wife fault she was the one being stupid and i'm the one that got put in the hospital for the night. it not right

I am guessing if you were only there for one night and released without follow up you weren't deemed to have a mental problem.
Or were you deemed to have a mental disorder?

If the first there should be no problems even now.
One night in the mental hospital does not preclude you from owning weapons.
