Deciding if I should keep my '12 Gt that currently sits near 600whp, now needing too upgrade injectors, clutch, driveshaft and then hope the manual trans holds the power. Or should I take the plunge into a '13 Gt500? Looking for some opinions.

If you can afford it--no brainer. Get the 13 GT 500; it was designed to handle huge power levels and you get a warranty.

What are your goals with the car? It would be much cheaper to keep what you have. If you sell your car, it will be tough to sell a newer one with your mods. It would make better sense to take back to stock and sell the mods separately. You will get about half of what you have in mods. been there done that. lol If you get the GT500 (which are amazing cars) and take your car to stock I might be interested in the Vortech. good luck.

Vortech would be an option if I go this route. So I will keep you updated. I have the money sitting around now too finish alot of the mods too finish my car, just kinda thinking gt500 option

There are T56 swap outs and TR6060 swap out kits that would be another option for you. I have looked into these myself. I understand your concern with the Getrag MT-82, expecially at your HP level now. Not a confident fan of it myself even with mild mods. I recently got a guote for the complete swap out which was right at $5500 if I recall (parts/shipping). Given the money and effort you have put into this vehicle I would give the swap out a good look before making the change.

That said...The GT500 2013 is awesome. My coworker has one and loves it. OR Xpipe, lower drive pulley (10%) and tune and he is making over 730 at the wheels. Can't remember the exact, but the result for such little upgrade effort was awesome. You do have the forged internals on the 351 (5.8). You have the 351 (5.8). You do have the TR6060. You have many things going on the GT500 platform. Pricey move possibly.

While most dealers will turn a blind eye to an exhaust, CAI, and/or tune on a GT Mustang, they don't look kindly upon pulley upgrades, and tunes to the GT500. My coworker knows this from first hand experience. The powertrain portion of his warranty is now VOID due to mods he made. Keep this in mind if weighing in warranty as a reason to purchase.

^I agree with Katmandu, owning a GT500 is not something everyone can say. But owning a 600rwhp is not a thing everyone can say either.

I would put a couple more grand in what you have, then spank that GT500 if I was you. You would still have $20k left over.

If it was me i would get the gt500 . I would go and drive one before you made your decision and explore all your options and weigh the costs both ways . You have a very impressive car .

Wonder how they feel on letting someone test drive one? I'm sure when me at 25 years old shows up too the dealership asking to test drive a Gt500 i will get :rolleyes:

it doesn't even have so much to do with the 25 thing. When people are spending 65k for a car, they don't want a bunch of miles on it, some are buying it to collect.

So, if you give out 50 test drives at 20-30 miles each, all of a sudden you have 1000-1500 miles on a car, and no one is going to want it, well, you'll shut out a good portion of your buyers.

As far as the OPs original question. I drove lund's car to him in PA, It was a very fun car to drive. Out of the box, it's a neat piece. However, you are looking at 60-65k depending on options, the one i have coming next week is 65700.

It'll be a sick car, but for the $$, you can do alot with yours. The newer gt's run great, and with the id's, bap (if you don't have one), on good fuel, you can make close to 700rwhp and last for quite some time.

As far as the tranny, i wouldn't get too hung up on what you read on the internet. With the power you have, you should expect your going to need to upgrade the clutch. Plenty of guys running low 10's with the manual with no issues.

I have the exedy stuff I can hook you up on as well. Whavever you need i'll hook you up on.

the other thing is you'll take a hit when you trade a car that new, so you have that to contend with, sales tax on 60+k, your looking around 4k there to, so financing 65-70k or better is a hell of a car payemnt
