Alright, I currently have a basic 302 turbo set up, with a stock block. The car put down 541 to the wheels. I am also running 15lbs of boost though. My question is I have a 1974 351 windsor block with a stock cast crank, SPR forged pistons, and eagle rods. This would all need machining of course. Or do I look into getting into like a Dart block 331 set up, thats used and ready to roll. I also have a set of Eld. Performer RPM to go on top, I know I know it will choke it, but for now its going to have to do. Should I just build the 351 that will need to be taken to a 357, or sell all that and get a block with pistons and all the jazz ready to go?? Plus I was thinking that the RPM's wouldnt choke the 331 as bad?? More boost right?? Gotta keep up with the Jones??? Opinions welcome!

Dart 331. With the 351 you will need to mod the kit. Also you will need a bigger turbo. Whats the fuel system? Trans?

Just build the 351W, if you hurt something or destroy a block the loss is minimal compared to the after market blocks. It doesn't sound that you will be exceeding the factory 351W block potential, just an opinion.

There are a few good power adder short blocks on here for a good price as well.
Can use all your existing parts most likely, the 351W will require some changes that may make it just as cost effective to stick with a 8.2" deck set up.

I am looking for something I can grow into, I am at the ticking time bomb stage with my block. Id like to get something and not shoot for the 800 rwhp mark, but something I can set up to make the power I am at now, get the max out of it, then turn it up a little more and go from there.

I'm at a similar spot with my set up just no power adder. In the next year or so I'm going 393 or 427 I really want a 427. You could ask everyone on here and we all will have a different opinion I guess what hasn't been asked is what's your end goal HP or a time or ??

How much $ you looking to spend is where I would start to make decisions.

hahah well ive never been a big person on hp level numbers or any particualr times, im about making good power and it lasting. i relaize that with anything, when its going to break there is nothing you can do to stop it, but i like taking baby steps into more power
