Found a 97 mercury mountaineering in a junk yard yesterday, 115,000. Motor is still complete. Is the motor worth anything or just the intake and heads?

yes it is worth about 300 to 500, can you start it to verify it runs? This engine would be great in your stang.

No they drain all the fluids. All I can do it put a socket on it and turn it over by hand

The heads sell for about 150-200 and intake about 100 to 125,

When cash for clunkers was going around. I bet me and a buddy pulled over 2 dozen sets of heads and intakes out of the you pull it yards. The most we found wrong with any of the motors was ONE had a broken rod. We think it was broke when they blew it up putting the fluid in it at the dealers.

We pulled heads off motors from 60K all the way up to 200K+ Most of the higher mileage motors still had cross hatching in the bores!!!! pull valve cover it will tell you if the motor had regular oil changes at least. Wouldn't scare me to pull one replace the oil pan and gasket slap a new oil pump in it and run the shit outta it!

Steves_LX did that with his red coupe he and I put together. Explorer motor, stock mustang cam, explorer intake and 4.10's.... went out and ran mid 12's

He seriously ran 12's on a stock exploder motor? Damn not bad. I'm gonna try and pull it but they probavly want a core motor for it.

I pulled one a couple years ago and that is what everyone told me as well. I ended up getting rid of the block but kept the heads and intake. Might put them on my '91 SSP this winter.

More than likely they will charge you a $50 core if you do not have a block to give them...at least that is the going price around here.

Yes. Stock 19# injectors, C&L mass air for 19# injectors, stock cam, no accessories just power steering and an alternator, 5 spd, 4.10 gears, and a set of wore out slicks. I think the best time before the dew starting making the track go away was a 12.64. No tach, no rev limiter or 2 step, stock autozone clutch!

I'm gonna run my autozone clutch with my paxton haha I wanna use the heads but i heard the velvet sorings weren't very good in those motors.

You have to upgrade them...I went with the Trick Flow kit...as I think most people do.

Damn, that's pricey but worth it. Might as well put my e303 cam in while the heads are off.
