Here is my Savage 12 in 300 WSM, this is one of my favorites. Since this picture I put a Vortex PST 6-24x50 FFP scope on it, and installed a 1LB. trigger. It has a Bell and Carlson Medalist stock, a Holland's muzzle brake, Savage 110BA bolt handle, Sharp Shooters Supply fluted bolt, Harris pivoting bi-pod, EGW 20 moa scope rail, and Leupold rings.
This setup works very well at 1000 yards. If I do my part, I can hit a 12" square steel gong at 1000 yards very consistently. This rifle combined with a good ballistic's app, a laser rangefinder, and a good spotting scope makes for a lot of fun. I can generally find/range a target between 100 and 1000 yards and hit within a few rounds (usually), often with first round strikes.

No, just a lot of research. All you really need is a rifle that can shoot 1 moa or better, a good long range round (there are plenty), a scope with decent optics and accurate adjustments, and a ballistic calculator. I use an app for my IPhone called "Shooter", its $10, and works very good. Without that app, I couldn't hit anything.
A decent long range rifle can be put together for around $1000, with scope, you just need to know what to buy.

Don't use the quotation marks, if all else fails, search google. It's a very popular app in the long range shooting world. It should be easy to find. There are cheaper app's, but Shooter is the most popular, and gets the best reviews. Actually, if you buy a Bluetooth Kestrel weather station, you can sync it to the app on an android, but not an iPhone.

This is one of my favorite battle rifles, the FN-FAL. I am building the one on the bottom. I now have most of the parts. The barrel is installed in the receiver and indexed properly. The next critical step is to set the headspace. After that, the rest of the build will be general assembly.

Yup, that's the only flavor of Delta Elite.
I was given all the internals to a Delta and it's time she get put back into working order.
Fusion Firearms is the only company I could find that made an unramped frame that they warranty for 10mm use. So I will be utilizing their frame and slide for all of the internals.
http://www.fusionfirearms.com/
I have the wrap around grips from the Delta but will be looking for a set of the standard grip panels as I like the checkered front strap offered by Fusion but want to keep a little of the Delta heritage known by the guns appearance.

12-25-2012, 12:05 AM
It shoots great, it has a factory 2 stage trigger that is about 3.5/4 lbs., which is fine for that rifle, it comes with an ergo grip and a good collapsible stock. It also came with a chrome bolt, but I don't think the new ones come with the chrome bolt anymore. The chrome bolt is nice, makes cleaning very easy. I haven't had a single firing problem, and it eats anything I have put through it. I have an EOTech w/a 3x magnifier on it, which isn't the best for proving accuracy, but I can hit a 12" square steel target @ 600 yards with that setup. They claim 1 moa accuracy, it's probably close to that, but these aren't target guns. Like I said, I'm really happy with it.

The ammo is fairly pricey. It does have some pretty good ballistics and for about 100 bucks you can throw a .40 barrel in it.

When it comes to carry, my preference is small frame single stack pistols. The small frame single stack pistols aren't much fun to shoot at the range, but they are much easier to live with for carry. Many people want a gun that is good at both, in my opinion, that doesn't work very well. For comparison, that's like saying "I want a 9 sec race car that has good street manors, that I can drive every day". The reality is most guys with fast street cars, have a second car for daily driving. The same is true with guns, the gun that is easy and comfortable to carry isn't much fun at the range. And the gun gun that is fun and accurate at the range is usually too big to carry and conceal comfortably.
With that said, I think Glock's are good guns, and I have one, but I don't carry it. Even the sub compact Glock's are too big, In my opinion, to carry everyday. Of course there are other factors, how you dress, what environment your likely to be in, cost, experience, etc.
I typically carry a Ruger LCP in my back pocket, in a pocket holster. If I think I might be in a situation where there may be a higher chance of danger, then I carry my XD9 sub compact on my hip with a jacket or shirt draped over it.
As far as the 357 Sig, if I remember right, it's a 9mm bullet in a necked down 40 S&W case, which makes it a fast 9mm. It's a good and capable round. The bigger question is what size gun are you willing to carry everyday. Because the .380 pocket pistol in your back pocket, is better than the hand cannon you left at home.

Yes, VZ's. They're a lot thinner than the stock grips that come on CZ's, and just a bit thicker than the thin aluminum slabs folks use. Still has the same contour as stock grips, so the ergo's really aren't changed.

Only other plans for buying anything else will be a shotgun and maybe a 9mm target pistol. Really have no desire for any assault weapons. I had my fun playing and carrying them around for 10 years in the Army.

I really want a 1911, for the price I think I am set on a Springfield Range Officer. I have also been shooting sporting clays a lot more, been borrowing dad's Beretta 391, so I want to find a decent o/u around $700 to play around with. I just got rid of my XD subcompact and don't have anything to carry. I am split between a Glock 26 or a Beretta Nano.

I prefer my muzzle to go straight back, it's easy for brakes to push the muzzle down too far with how I shoot. It's a great brake, just not for me. I honestly just don't like brakes for how I use my AR.

Hate to say it... $245 out-the-door. I've been seeing RRA stripped lowers going for $500 all day long. But here again, this is one of the first 150 they have ever produced. LGS will have 10 more in about a month.
Also, they're machined right down the road from me in New Bremen, Ohio. There is a Palmetto State Armory lower build kit on the way. I was able to score one this week while they still had them in stock, and Pmags (that I didn't get raped on) will be here Friday.

Black92LX

I ended up getting some VZ EDC/Frag Black and Grey grips.
This guy will put Delta Elite medallions in any grips you may have.
http://www.1911-grips.com/
I bought my VZs from him to save from VZ shipping to me, me shipping to him, him shipping back to me.
They should be here in the next week or so I'll post pics then.
The parts for the gun are at the smith and has been fitted. First assembly done soon, test fired, then all the parts coated, the final assembly so hoping 2-3 weeks till complete.

Do you wanna adopt a son??? Lol I'm in love, I was gonna buy a vepr but I was being slow on it and then the gun craziness happened and you can't find one for a decent price now!

LOL, no thanks, I'm good! The Vepr's didn't get affected as much by the price surge as some other rifles.

My 2 newest guns are a Saiga S-12 semi-auto shot gun and a Ruger SR 1911 .45 ACP. A picture of the Ruger is in another post of mine and I'll have to get a pic of the Saiga later. Both great guns.

We've been to the indoor range in Springfield 3 times this year, And have been shooting at my brother's house everyday that it has been nice ...
He has gone through180 rds with his AR, About 200 with his 10/22, And he went through 40 with his .410 on Sunday alone !!!
Not Bad for this year so far ... We plan on doing more and more as the weather improves ...
