I have a friend that has a 99 V6. She says that more times than not. when you you drive down the road the car really smells of gas on the inside. She says its worse after you fill up. But either way it smells. There are no apparent leaks that I can find. And I checked the filler neck in the trunk and it is bone dry and just full of dust. No evidence of it leaking. Anyone else ever had this problem or any ideas as to why and what would be causing this?

I did with a 99 gt it was the rubber grommet where the filler neck goes into the tank, just my experience with mine though. All the fuel related stuff under the hood dry? Rail, and around injectors and fuel lines? Hope its something cheap and easy for ya.

The evap cannister can also cause a symptom like this. It is located in the wheel well on the pasenger side.
