Bone stock as well. 6 speed 3.31 gear Will be good to see these results against an auto and smittys 355 gear manual setup.
I may be a wee bit late Saturday morning...that is unless the wheels I ordered come in Thursday evening. I will be at Tire Discounters up the road getting them put on @ 8. Should be there NLT than 10.

Get that car running again? Heard it developed a "hickup" one day after the turbo was in place. I'm missing redfire's power adder. Can't wait to possibly do another one. It was fun to catch unsuspecting people off guard with 507 RWHP.

So what did you find to be the magic number? Redfire was putting down 507RW/463T on the stock internals. Seemed to be fine with street tires, but instinct said not to put a set of Slicks on it and launch it @ 6K. Starting to miss that car.

You were right about you thought the impeller was rubbing on my vortech. Looks like its hitting on 2 areas if you look at the pics. Possibly a casting issue? i think if it were a bearing that it would hit in random spots, not the same spots each time?

Really hard to tell. There is clearly an issue here. I had a turbo blower on a CO2 laser (similar in design to a centri but electrically driven at much higher RPM) fail premature due to bearing and seal failures. A deep investigation on the cause was done. I have a copy for my records to protect me. What the exact cause was turned out inconclusive other than it was not from improper or neglected maintenance. The turbo blower was mounted wit hteh impeller shaft vertical, whereas the Vortech/Paxton is mounted horizontally. The rubbing is on the bottom in the photos. This could be because the impeller is sagging during idle and low RPM due to a failed bearing/seal, improper assembly or even a casting as you suggest. Either way it isn't right and Vortech/paxton needs to address it.
Whatever you do on this from here out...Doument,document,document.... DO NOT TAKE ANYONE'S WORD. Get EVERYTHING in writing...friend, family, or foe. Vortech/Paxton needs to step up to the plate on this and make it right. Make darn sure your ditributor does his/her job in this matter as well. They benefit from the sale of the item, they are also the link between you and the MFGR. Keep them in the loop and make them do what needs to be done to expedite this warranty process. Any involvement from anyone ...get it in writing. The days of handshakes and verbal promises are gone.
Would love to hear the results. After hearing yours run (even with the interference issue) I am impressed with the drive-ability and idle recovery. Would love to see Jon Lund (Ken B) perfect the tune so that email tuning does not have to be done on each and every package sold if that is possible for a simple SC bolt on with no other add ons.
