View Full Version : wheel lock
Took my 03 mach 0ne to get the front tires replaced and the key I have for the locking lugs isnt the right one. Anyone have one I can barrow? If you do check the maker and the number on it so I can make sure its different than the one I have. Id post the numbers but its at home. If your in the eastgate area and would let me barrow it I would only need it over night.

Sean , does the tire shop not have one ? Most tire shops keep universal sets in their shop . If that doesnt work you might stop by the local ford dealer and see if they have one and can take the locks off for you.
went to tire discounters and pep boys.. (pep boys is a joke) And no one could help

Do you have a pic of the lug nut? Problem is, not all locking lug nuts are "keyed" alike... so that anyone who happens to have a key can't go jack the wheels off the car down the street.
I've heard of people welding a nut to the top and getting them off that way. Then replacing with a regular lug nut.
And yes... Pep Boys is a joke, I used to work there.

I would try the dealer . Had a friend with a 98 cobra that had to do the same thing.

The patent number won't help you, dealership may be able to take care of it but probably not as a courtesy. Swing it by toms shop-save you from spending $20 on gas.
I didnt think the patent nomber would do it. High hopes. lol if no one has a key ill swing by a shop. I know theres a few sbz at tire places. Wouldnt mind getting the tires mounted while I am there.
hope to get the thing off and just put on a normal lug. I guess I will take my chances with someone stealing them while its in the garage and I am fast asleep.. lol

If you don't mind destroying the old nut I've got a rifled socket... and a mig welder worst case.

i could care less about that nut as long as it doesnt hurt the wheel.

Is there a sticker on the back? Half pink/red and half black. I called mcgard with that and they mailed me one. I have it somewhere if that's the one

Any paperwork come with the car? My '94 GT and my Lincoln both had the lock key sequence number on a little envelope that the key came in, stashed away inside the car. Found the one for the GT in the owners manual, found the one for the Lincoln stuffed way up in the front of the trunk where the floorpan drops to go under the seat
I think I do have a paper but I am more interested in getting it taken off now as long as the wheel doesnt suffer. Once its off I wont ever need the key again.

1/2" drive ,3/4' socket six point, 3' extension, and a big hammer. Buy four socket's and hammer them on the lock's. It works great i just had to do this cause my key broke.
I got all four wheel locks out of the sockets ,but they broke:evilgrin:so i just returned them to sears.
I think i only have locks on the front. That does sound fun.
