Hate to really call changes to a new car a "project". I feel calling this a project demeans the talen and time that really represents the term. I have the utmost respect and admiration, and yes even envious of those who can take a car in boxes and turn it into a masterpiece over time. I personally do not have the talent, the patience or the place to do it. So that being said I will share as I may.

The 19's are off and in their place are the OEM GT500 wheels off redfirepearl. On them 285/40/18's in back, and 255/45/18's up front. Nitto 555r series. They handle great and give the car back that muscle look that I felt it lacked. The wheels are from redfirepearl and are OEM 07 GT500 18x9.5's. Also a pair of MBR LCA's that will go on soon for a little better traction. Finally for this season, in shipment is a catback Magnaflow exhaust system that will give the car back it's muscle sound as well. Right now driving it me feel like I am in a Cadillac or Lincoln. Just no exhaust note at all. So the Magnaflow street series will wake that up.

Hopefully after a long winter's rest, the cpring of 2013 will bring about the burget to add the much desired Roush 575HP twin screw package to the power train. This should round off my "project" of fancy bolt ons and the car will stay as is afterward............but who knows. Thanks for looking.

Def go with a different wheel. Black is the perfect fit for the green. Just my opinion.

It suits me for now. Never was a fan of flat faced wheels. To each their own. May look into Kenny powder coating the windws black and reclearing (if you can clear in powder) over the winter, if I don't find another wheel for it to purchase late next summer after the planned Roush upgrade, but for now the wider meats and the slight lip suits me fine.

The magnaflow exhaust is enroute. Should arrive Thurs so I can put it on in teh driveway Friday morning. Then it's save time for spring.

Found a TSW wheel today I like in an 18. Called a Valencia. Can swap the Nittos right over. Will post it soon. Gloss black, chrome lip, 3" lip in rear, 1.4" lip up front. They look nice. May even consider the solid chrome version.

Magna flow 3" cat back exhaust finally going on. Will link a video ASAP.

Oh and Roush just released a 625HP package. Yay!

Exhaust is on and sounds great! Will post a video at next convenience. Getting ready to change wheels again as well. Hopefully I can sell the GT500 wheels and the factory 19's that came on the car soon.

I concur about the wheels. I didn't like them on the GT500 and I don't care for them now. The stock wheels are 1000 times better. The Gt500 wheels are just two blocky for me. But man I love that color!

The new Gt500 wheels with a gun metal color look sick on these cars. I saw one sitting at the CJ Pony parts trailer in columbus and it looked sick

I am looking to put a set of TSW 18's on the car. Valencias to be exat. Black gloss/polished lip 3" deep dish rear 1.5" lip in front. Been doing some research as well for another idea on this same wheel. The GT500's I think you are referring to are 19/20's. I am looking to keep 18's on it. Did not care for hte 19/20 look personally. I like a little more tire sidewall.

Thanks. It's so hard to capture this car's color in an image. I was talking to one of our more experienced photo professionals on the site the other day and he even admitted that he treally struggles with capturing the true color of GHIG on "film". The polished GT500 wheels are simply a holdover until I decide to drop the go ahead with Mustangjon at TireDiscounters. We are still doing some reserach on antoher idea that IF it ends up working will be awesome looking.

MGW shifter and other goodies will have to hold until spring for now. Maybe a nice Christmas present from me to me this year along with that pipe dream on the Roush package.

Decided to drop the dime on a set of wheels. These will be going on the 13. Since the gt500 Wheels are +45 offset, and these are +40, we are hoping that the 18X9.5 wheel with the 3" lip will work all of the way around. Otherwise the fronts will be the 1.5" lip. Can't find any reason why they will not work. Backspacing is virtually the same as well.

Tried putting a similar wheel on the car today witha 40mm offset. Looks like there is a caliper clearance issue, so the idea to run the 3" lip all around is shot. Will have a .75" lip on a 18X8 wheel for the front and the 2.0" lip on the back. KNow on wood it all fits.

Did replace the 255/45/18's on the front 8" wheels with 235/50/18's. They were bulging out a bit too much on the 8" rim. Still need to mount the LCA's.

Wish I could lower the car 1" but it would never clear the driveway. Roush Package pending home improvement project (drains replaced next spring) on the house doesn't go through the roof. May have to settle for a CAI and tune for 2013 and revise the Roush package for 2014.

New wheels look 100x better than the GT500s. I love the tail lights on the 2013s. Have you though about plastdipping the lower bumper section between the exhaust tips? I think that'd make a big difference and tie in a little more black without going overboard.

I'm hoping to be in a 5.0 by spring as long as my Cobra sells. Which 19s do you have, the Brembos?

redfirepearlgt
10-23-2012, 05:05 PM
Nope...that's what I think has made a huge improvement in the car appearance from the rear aside from the work they did on the tail lights. Windows will be tinted ever so modestly at some point (very light tint ...no pimp tint). As for additional black i am trying to come up with something that won't make it look like a cloned Boss.

Black roof panel would be a significant amount of black without it being in your face all the time. I happen to like the all black roof look (snicker snicker)

redfirepearlgt
10-23-2012, 06:39 PM
mmmmmm....Nah. Looking to possibly, very slim possibly place a simple accent on the side that would be an abstract versoin of that seen on the 2012 Black Roush. That is if I go ahead with the Roush 575 package (pending home improvements needed don't bury me come spring). The accent would be gloss black in lieu of the green, quite a bit shorter in length down the side, with a pearled white accent stripe. Still playing. Then again may just maintain the KISS concept.

I'm thinking of a very simple side panel accent of some nature. Would need to be gloss black since the wheels are gloss black. Again, I don't want it to look like a Boss Clone either. I was thinking of doing the back spoiler in black but then saw they did that on the Boss so ex'd that off the list. There will be something that catches my eye. Want something that will set it apart but not customize it to the point of being unable to resell it one day.

http://www.roushperformance.com/vehicles/mustang-2013-stage3.html

Something simple like this marking but with the accent stripe up against the black stripe (no space) and in a white metallic with pearl is what I was thinking of. Simple clean and done. Of course the 5.0 badge in lieu of a Roush badge.

The MGW shifter went into Wasabi yesterday. The shift is much crisper and smoother. A very good upgrade for anyone wishing to improve their Git-RAG-MT-82 6 speed. Just ordered a new change up on the wheels (yeah I know I'm getting as bad as Sean is with making decisions LOL!).

AR just released a version of the Shelby Razor in a 18x9 and 18X10 stagger in Black. They should arrive Friday and go on the car same day or Saturday. LCA's are also awaiting to go on. I think the deeper dish will help make the car look more aggressive. Was wanting to lower it an inch, BUT it won't clear the dagged slope off out of my driveway. So much for that. Soooooooooooo...wheels are the option for a changeout.
