I bought one a couple of months ago. the only thing I wish I had got was the microsoft stuff. Yea beefcake. After we bought the new one we gave my daughter the gold one. Her front tire went off the road and she over steered and hit a tree. She couldn't get the car in park so she got out anyway. Thought the car was on fire. Dropped her iphone. The car started rolling. It rolled over her iphone. Then it went 200 feet through the woods and in a creek. They gave me 7100 for the car. I tried to get extra tires but couldn't find any. I had brand new tires on it. It's still sitting there. She didn't have a scratch so I was happy

Think 0-60 was under 7 seconds largely dependent on traction... Or the lack of

I'm digging the ST myself and am considering one for a daily driver because 4 doors makes it a lot more kid friendly than my Mini and the new Mini Countryman I want comes in at $10k more.

What's the real world Highway MPGs ?

Seriously? That's one way to negate the 252hp.

The old Focus SVT was 2700lbs w/ 170hp.

Was that the 2 door or 4 door version? The ST's only come in 4 doors.

Regardless, the old SVT was a maxed out NA motor whereas this is probably a corked up boosted motor. I'm sure there is way more room to grow on the ST.

not far away from a stang.

That's why I asked. 300lbs away from my Fusion Sport with a 3.5 V6 with the same hp. That's a heavy Focus. They use to weight in at about 2600-2700 lbs for a 4 door. But, that torque is where it's at, in overboost mode.

Exactly. I'm not trying to dog the new ST...it's cool as hell. The whole idea of a compact hatchback weighing 3300lbs kind of sucks though. It means that for trackday use it's going to be just as brutal on tires and brakes as a Mustang.

Horsepower makes you go faster in a straight line, but less weight makes you faster everywhere.

Just out of curiosity, what made you go with this over the mazdaspeed3? The speed3 has the same size, more hp/tq same 4 door hatchback, same weight, proven turbod motor, and can pick a used one up reasonably priced. The big difference I can see is the fuel mileage, fairly sizable difference there I believe.

to tell you the truth i really like the way the st looked over the speed.

Ford designed the ST suspension to eliminate the heavy torque steer that afflicts the Mazda Speed.

I'd agree with the comparison to the new speed3's. And good to know about the torque steer.

Wow, did not realize they were so heavy.
Only 400 lbs lighter that the Escape 2.0 Ecoboost I just ordered.

Haven't driven the ST but it has to be a hoot to drive considering how fun the Escape is to drive.
