sct handheld, how to unlock?

I have a question, how do i unlock my tuner? I want to let my buddy use it temporarily, then set his car back to stock and use the tuner for my own car. When I hook it up to his, it wont let me change anything? Any help would be appreciated, thanks

Ben, If possible you can try redownloading the factory tune from the tuner to your car it was married to. This should reset the tuner and allow it then to "marry up" with another car. That is how they used to work anyway. I did this with one and was able to use it on the next car some years back on an earlier SCT version programmer. When done using it on your friends car you will have to then redownload the factory tune stored in the tuner back into his car once again freeing it up to marry up with your car again. Hope this helps. If not you may be able to get Adam or an SCT authorized tuner to reset the unit so it can then be married up to a new car again.

alright, that helps a bit. The thing is, the programer has NEVER been used, it said something about going to sct's website, i suppose i should have gone there in the first place lol

I think it was around 175 to have them unlock it to use on another car... Could be wrong...

You may be right Josh. The sct tuner I had and reused predated the display screen models. With it all had to be done was download the factory tune to the orig. vehicle and it was free to use on another after that. Figured it was worth a shot before dropping a call or coin to the sct guys.

I have an sct livewire that was installed on my mustang. When I got rid of the stang all I did was flash the stock tube back in and the device was unmarried to the car. There should be 5 unlocks allowed before you have to send it back to sct to have them do it.
