I bought a 97 cobra in December that had a fresh t56. It was built by Walsh- D&D. It lasted 850 miles and I lost reverse. In April I took it to a local shop to have it repaired. I installed it today and I only have neutral and 4th. I paid the local shop in cash and I have no receipt, so I guess I am screwed.

I am looking for a recommendation for who I can trust to repair this locally.

Anyone want to buy a nice vert with no transmission?

Haven't called yet. They aren't open today. I will call Monday and see what they say.

I put almost 4 quarts of dex 3 in before I tried it. It ran out of the fill hole.

I am frustrated, but I am not bashing anyone at this point. I just want a shop that will take my money and give me what I pay for. No matter where I go there are either surprise charges, shitty work, or poor customer service.

I hope that the local shop will back up their work, but I imagine the conversation will go something like this
Me: I just installed the trans you repaired for me 3 months ago and I have a problem
Shop: Well how do we know you haven't been at the track beating on it the last 3 months?
Me: I can give you my word that I just installed it.
Shop: It is a high performance transmission. No warranty. Bring it in so we can charge you another $500 to repair it. Maybe we will get it right this time.

Is DEX-3 the right fluid? Hopefully they will take care of it.

Dex III is what tremec recommends for a t56. They spec syncromesh for TKO.

Call Finishline Performance. If Brian and Brandon don't do tranny work, they will def know of a reputable person who can be trusted. These guys are top notch, honorable, and reasonable. They back up their work. They have helped me several times. I have 100% faith in them.

Ok I have to admit when I do something really stupid. When I filled the trans with fluid I installed the shifter backwards. I flipped the shifter and the trans works fine.:cheers:

Thanks for all the help. At least I figured it out before I pulled it back out.
