started the thread in "driveline catagory" because at the time i didnt know where i was going with it.. now i think i should be here but dont want to double post so if you read the post in driveline "28 1100 16 mt" that might bring a little more light to where im at .. long story short, i have a pretty well built tf headed306 with an e cam , gt 40 upper and lower, good tune and good parts but stock block with a v1 at 13#. runs good but not as good as i think it should. needs to be rerung because i have excessive cc press so i know thats a robber but im not happy with it. what i wonder is can i get that enging in the 10s(via intercooler, meth inj, nitrous shot) or should i forget it and buy the 351 dart block build a 408, ditch the v1 and spray a couple stages? i know alot more about juice than superchargers so im leaning to the 408 and it probably wouldnt be a grenade like the 306 on all the adders but alot more expensive. going fast isnt cheap i know, but i want to see if anyone thinks i can get what i want out of my current set up or if im chasing an explosive unicorn..

Your already pushing stock block wouldn't add more other than tune more or work more on chassis to get to your goal we have several members in low 11s with similar or less setups

Step 1-Ever so gently, remove the cam. Very easily and daintilly hold it in your hand. Grab one end of it,and throw that motherfucker as far as you can.
Step 2-Buy a better cam.
Step 3-Thank Facemelter for the best advise ever.

its already got a professional tune on it by lideo up in michiganso theres probably not much to do there..the suspension is working great . i guess the lacking et #s must be due to the blow by if you guys have similar set ups running low 11s.maybe ill tear it down and send the block in to get cleaned up and put a set of hellfire rings in it and see where its at
.....and then get the dart block..

Check out Flowtech Inductions Ed Curtis will do you right pretty much just tell him your combo and what you're wanting to do and he'll grind a cam that is well suited for your combo. mine's a blower cam with a billet core i want to say it cost me around 300 and some change

I have a poor shitty alphabet cam in my car to. It is WAY underpowered from what it should be doing. And that is all due to poor cam choice. A custom blower cam with DEFINITLY help you out. E-cam has no split duration (non of the cheerleader cams do) and it has nothing good to offer.
I have another cam I picked up from another Banger waiting to go in,just been lazy.

You will more than likely spend more on trying to make a 306 even supercharged to be a reliable 10-second car. Build a 408W and run with it. You can easily with the correct combo run in the 10's all day long reliably on a stock block. Run good compression, cam, heads, and tune etc.

Get a crower 15513 cam. I had a bone stock 306, afr185's, performer efi intake, and a v1 S trim at 14-15psi, c4, 3800 tci out of the box converter. Drove it all over the place, drove it to the track on 275/60 Drag radials, and went high 9's leaving at idle. Dont over spin the motor and you can get into the 10's no problem. Shift under 6k and you wont be stressing the block so much

I had a completely stock short block with a B cam, out of the box performer heads, Victor upper and lower intake, c4, 3500 converter, a customer single turbo kit with a master power 70mm turbo with completely stock suspension and ended up going high 9's @ 140mph.

exactly^^ It can be done! It is a crap shoot wheather your motor will last. Ive heard of plenty living into the 600hp range with lower rpms.

This was actually a conservative tune up...

And my car was tuned by this guy^^^^ He had it driving like a stock mustang. Not only was it fast, it got 18-20mpg!! We beat on this car for probably 2 years until it was sold. Last I heard about it was a few months ago and it was still going strong!!

man! i appreciate all the info! with those setups what gear and tire height are you running to be hitting 9sand10s at the 140 area? i agree with thew lower rpm thing so i want to find the gear/height sweet spot. im gonna roll the 306 and put the 408 on the back up burner. what do you think about juice out of the hole with the s/c set up? not a big shot....just a helper...

3.27-3.55, 28" tall tire. It's a blower. No nitrous help needed to get out, my coupe leaving @ idle went low 1.4x/60's

I was running a 3.27 gear and either 28x9's or 28x10.5 The 10.5 is a pain in the backside to make fit on the car though
