Anyone on here have a home they rent out?

What did you use for the background and credit check? I get a million results when using google. What sites are you using for this?

I actually have the applicants provide me one after I meet them and my gut tells me they are good. I take the price (about $10-15) off of the first months rent.

I feel good about the potential renter and I think it's really cool that she is into cars. I'm not saying anything bad about her whatsoever, but I just don't know her and can't go off my gut when I'm risking my entire house. I need some kind of affirmation lol. She's actually familiar with SBZ and even said she was a member here back in the day.

I also did what Tim did. Your gut is the best indicator really. I had two rentals and I never had issues. I can say depending on what the rent is, will determine the renter, for the most part. I found higher rent generally means better renters. No low-rents...LOL

My father goes thru a realtor to rent out his house, they take care of all the bull and send him a check every month.

No, my place is $800/mo. Plus utilities. Out keeps the low rents away.

Facebook is your friend too. We had a lady put a guy down as a reference stating he was her current landlord, turns out on the faceplace that she says he is her current fiance :lol:

Also depending on what county the person is from you may be able to look on that counties clerk of courts website to find out other basic issues. This same lady who swore she was an excellent renter had also been evicted twice.

Yeah, people lie like crazy. We had a guy who wanted to buy our spare house who said he only need a few months for a couple pay off's to clear his credit report to buy it. I had his credit run by a banker friend and it was like a 600 or something like that.

So I called these guys and spoke with Brian. He said they didn't do this type of work for tenants :confused:
