I am looking at buying a non-running coupe from IL. I have done out of state inspections before...which are a joke...but never with a roller. Has one here done one? I am guessing as long as the VIN's match it does not matter, but I want to be sure and the BMV is closed.

Thanks

I bought my car from indiana, the car had not wiring, trans, or motor. All they checked is the vin number on the dash.

It shouldn't matter. Just trailer it over to the BMV or a car dealership and they'll take care of it.

Double check the vin and a bill of sale doesn't hurt.

As long as the vin tag is in the factory location on the dash your good. Every other location is irrelevant for titling purposes.

Did mine today. Sheer looked only at the Dash

Thanks guys! I just was not sure how it would be with the vehicle not running. I remember the first time I did an out of state inspection. I made sure all the lights worked, fixed the horn, and other little things. Then the lady just looked to see the vin on the dash matched the vin on the door. I was so pissed...lol
